Spread the news about Quincy Culpepper from Fremont of Oakland, who tied a NorCal record by scoring nine TDs in one game who tied a Cal-Hi Sports state record in the same game since three of those nine were on punt returns. This week’s best also includes a 500-yard night from Calabasas’ Tristan Gebbia, 17 receptions from Stockton Stagg’s Cutrell Haywood and 386 yards rushing from Grand Terrace’s Jonta McMullen.

Note: We will collect totals from MaxPreps, newspapers, tweets and from those sent in to us. We also will compile single-game highs from this post throughout the season and of course we use our weekly State Stat Stars collection as an aid for the Cal-Hi Sports State Record Book. That is the only state record book anyone has ever done and we have published it seven times with full copyright protection. (All players listed in alphabetical order)
(Writeups by Paul Muyskens, Mark Tennis & CIF Central Section historian Bob Barnett)
(For games played through Saturday, Oct. 1)

Alex Aguliar (Shafter)
This QB gave the shaft to Arvin in Shafter’s 56-48 victory with both his arm and feet. Aguilar connected on 19 of 34 passes for 345 yards and two TDs and also rushed for 170 yards on 19 carries with four TDs scored. Both teams also accumulated 1,104 total yards for the game.

Kazmeir Allen (Tulare)
In a 30-24 win by the Tribe (first time we’ve ever used the new nickname) over host Dinuba, Kazmeir rushed for a game high of 202 yards on 23 carries and scored on runs of 3 and 34 yards. Allen also scored on a 96-yard kickoff return.

Micah Barnes (Kennedy, Richmond)
He passed for 405 yards and five touchdowns on 34 completions in 42 attempts but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles dropped a 41-35 contest to El Cerrito.

Noah Bean (Grace Brethren, Simi Valley)
Named by the Ventura County Star as an athlete of the week, this senior caught five passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns during Grace Brethren’s historic 34-23 win over Westlake of Westlake Village. He also rushed for 44 yards, threw a touchdown pass and contributed with three tackles on defense. Said head coach Josh Henderson: “In 19 years as a head coach, Bean is one of the best players I have coached.”

Tariq Bible (Inderkum, Sacramento)
Clinching the 43-33 win for the Tigers over Yuba City, he had a 58-yard interception return for a touchdown with 1:21 remaining after earlier catching a 40-yard touchdown pass.

Zack Bushling (Kern Valley, Lake Isabella)
Last week’s NorCal Special Teams Player of the Week was special again in leading Kern Valley past Corcoran 30-16. Bushling passed for a career high of 343 yards on 16 of 24 with three touchdowns. He also kicked a 21-yard field goal in the game for his seventh of the season and 26th in his career. According to CIF Central Section historian Bob Barnett, that ties him with two other players for the most in section history.

Jemire Calvin & Andrew Tovar (Cathedral, Los Angeles)
Calvin’s fantastic season continued in the Phantoms’ 28-23 victory vs. Palos Verdes of PV Estates with 11 catches for 228 yards and one TD. Tovar also had a big night, completing 19 of 25 passes for 336 yards and two TDs.

Quinn Commans (Whittier Christian, La Habra)
Big passing performances have become common for this junior as he passed for 383 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for a score during a 70-49 loss to St. Margaret’s of San Juan Capistrano. He has now passed for 2,223 yards and 27 touchdowns this season with just one interception.

Quincy Culpepper (Fremont, Oakland)
You would expect some big stats in an 80-0 win over Madison Park Academy and that is what Culpepper had as he rushed for 259 yards and six touchdowns on just 10 carries. The bigger news, however, was that in the same game Culpepper got his hands on three separate punt returns and took them all back for three more scores. He tied a Cal-Hi Sports state record for having three punt return TDs in the same game, last done in 2009 by Austin Shull of Santa Rosa Montgomery. Additionally, Culpepper’s nine total TDs for the game also ties him for a Northern California record with Joe Silva of Gustine (1954) and James Montgomery from Cordova of Rancho Cordova (2004). The state record of 11 was set in 1929 by Frank Greene of Coronado. To see a YouTube post of Culpepper’s three punt return TDs and three of his rushing TDs, CLICK HERE.

Clay D’Amico & Gianni Hurd (Valley Christian, Cerritos)
D’Amico booted a field goal from 50 yards out (coming just two yards short of the school record) and made one from 30 yards during VC’s 46-35 defeat of Long Beach St. Anthony. Hurd scored on a 91-yard run and finished with 26 carries for 244 yards.

Jalani Eason (Serra, Gardena)
As Eason keeps improving in his junior season, the Cavaliers become more of the threat in the CIF Southern Section. In their 41-30 victory vs. state-ranked Loyola of Los Angeles, Eason completed 17 of 25 passes for 364 yards and three TDs and rushed for 68 yards on 10 carries with two TDs. He hit on 10 of his completions to another junior, Kobe Smith, for 191 yards and three TDs.

Edgar Galindo (Los Amigos, Fountain Valley)
While lots of teams had last Friday off, Galindo did as well but it was because he had his big performance on Thursday night when he rushed for 260 yards during a 33-14 win over Saddleback of Santa Ana.

Chase Garbers (Corona del Mar, Newport Beach)
For the second week in a row, Garbers had five TD passes in a game. This time, he did it just in the first half of the Sea Kings’ 55-14 romp past Trabuco Hills of Mission Viejo. The senior committed to Cal completed 19 of 25 passes for 315 yards. The week before, he went 12 of 14 for 277 and five vs. Newport Harbor in a 41-13 triumph.

Tristan Gebbia (Calabasas)
The senior standout committed to Nebraska went over 100 TD passes for his career while passing for 512 yards in a 37-21 triumph by the Coyotes over Valencia. Gebbia, who completed 35 of 51 passes on the night, also is closing in on the 10,000-yard mark for his career and should get there before two others this season, making him the seventh that high on the Cal-Hi Sports all-time state list. Gebbia completed 10 passes for 169 yards and one TD to All-American Darnay Holmes before Holmes got hurt and missed the second half.

Dalton Gee (Del Oro, Loomis)
The Golden Eagles will head into their big showdown with Folsom undefeated after a 58-21 win over Nevada Union of Grass Valley with their senior running back rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns.

Justin Goring (Mira Costa, Manhattan Beach)
He needed just 10 carries to rush for over 200 yards on the night as he rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns during a 42-0 win over Newport Harbor of Newport Beach.

Emilio Gutierrez & Laron Cherry (Boron)
Not often do you see two running backs end up with the same stat line like these two seniors did during a 52-40 win over Saddleback Valley Christian of San Juan Capistrano. Both Gutierrez and Cherry each rushed for 213 yards and three touchdowns. Cherry needed 10 more carries to reach his 213 yards as he carried the ball 28 times while Gutierrez rushed 18 times.

Cutrell Haywood (Stagg, Stockton)
The Stockton Record’s Boys Athlete of the Week shined with 17 catches for 211 yards and four TD catches in a 35-32 loss by the Delta Kings to Christian Brothers of Sacramento. He’s in his third year on Stagg’s varsity and deserves a closer look as a D1 college prospect.

Cade Henjum & Jack Deavila (Saddleback Valley Christian, San Juan Capistrano)
Despite completing just under half his pass attempts, Henjum passed for 483 yards and five touchdowns as he completed 30 of his 61 pass attempts during a 52-40 loss to Boron. Deavila was his leading target as he caught 15 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns.

Chase Hofmann (Half Moon Bay)
A junior to watch, Hofmann is nearing 1,000 yards rushing for the season after he had 25 carries for 244 yards and three TDs to lead the Cougars past Menlo School of Atherton 36-27.

George Krantz (St. Margaret’s, San Juan Capistrano)
Finishing with six total touchdowns on the night during a 70-49 win over Whittier Christian of La Habra, he passed for 253 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 76 yards and three scores.

Nate Landman (Monte Vista, Danville)
Committed to Colorado, he did a bit of everything during a 35-14 win over Granada of Livermore. Landman caught two touchdown passes and threw for another score. He also finished with nine tackles and a sack on defense while also contributing as the snapper on punts and extra points.

Jerry Lizama-White (River Valley, Yuba City)
He also did a bit of everything during a 40-26 win over Rio Linda. Lizama-White caught two touchdown passes, intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble and blocked an extra point.

Jonta McMullen (Grand Terrace)
Now with over a grand on the season rushing the football, he ran for a season-high 386 yards and four touchdowns on 40 carries during a 37-16 win over J.W. North of Riverside. Through five games this season, McMullen has now rushed for 1,033 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Kyle Mullin (Scripps Ranch, San Diego)
In a performance from two weeks ago, Mullin went 27 of 41 for 349 yards passing and four TDs in a 41-27 win vs. Sweetwater of National City. Earlier this season, in a 35-19 victory vs. University City, Mullin passed for 453 yards and four scores.

Sean O’Malley (Loyola, Los Angeles)
He had some big games for the Cubs last season as a junior and in their 41-30 loss to Serra of Gardena last week he helped make it close by passing for 364 yards and three touchdowns.

Gabe Predergast (Santa Ynez)
Before Julio Jones had his big game on Sunday in the NFL, Predergast had almost as big of a receiving performance last Friday night. He caught 14 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns during a 42-28 win over Santa Maria.

Dom Rucker (Roseville)
The Tigers and Rucker are off to a 5-0 start this season after a come from behind 42-24 win over Cosumnes Oaks of Elk Grove. They scored the final 35 points of the game, which included Rucker catching a touchdown pass and returning an interception for a score.

Bobby Wallace (Santana, Santee)
It’s a new school career rushing record for Wallace after he carried 25 times for 210 yards and four TDs to lead the Sultans past Mar Vista of Imperial Beach 49-35. Wallace upped his career total to 2,363 yards to surpass the previous mark of 2,236 set 14 years ago by Jerrad Schnautz.

Braden Wingle (Bakersfield Christian)
Junior QB from same school as the Oakland Raiders’ Derek Carr winged it for a career-high of five touchdowns on 10 of 15 for 294 yards as the Eagles beat Kennedy of Delano 47-6.
