It only took 13 completions for one QB to rack up more than 400 yards of passing while one of our receivers makes the state record book with 337 yards in one game. Others gaining notice include Tyler Nevins of Hacienda Heights Los Altos, Anthony Johar from La Palma Kennedy, R.J. Van Kampen of Cerritos Valley Christian and Damon Cole of El Cerrito.

Note: We will collect totals from MaxPreps, newspapers, tweets and from those sent in to us. We also will compile single-game highs from this post throughout the season and of course we use our weekly State Stat Stars collection as an aid for the Cal-Hi Sports State Record Book. That is the only state record book anyone has ever done and we have published it seven times with full copyright protection. To report totals to us for this feature and for the record book, email markjtennis@gmail.com or call 209-463-9050. You can also text to 209-608-1317.

(All players listed in alphabetical order)
(For games played through Saturday, Oct. 31)
(Thanks to Stockton office assistant Paul Muyskens and to CIF Central Section historian Bob Barnett for contributions)

Kazmeir Allen (Tulare)
A sophomore to watch, Allen stepped in for the injured Romello Harris (still at 8,029 yards for career) with an outstanding performace in 55-41 win vs. Mission Oak of Tulare. Allen ran for 337 yards on 37 carries and scored three touchdowns .Allen wasn’t only the bright spot for Tulare, either, as quarterback Josh Guerrero passed for 292 yards on 18 of 27 and had four TD passes.

Eduardo Andrade (Wilcox, Santa Clara)
Running with the football more than passing, he passed for 79 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 217 yards and four touchdowns on 11 carries as the Chargers remained undefeated at home with a 49-22 win over Saratoga.

Ladell Atkins (El Camino Real, Woodland Hills)
Both of his receptions were for touchdowns, including the game-winning TD catch with two seconds remaining, in a 41-36 win over Chatsworth. On the night that saw his two catches go for 72 yards, Atkins also had a big night rushing with 212 yards and two more touchdowns on 21 carries.

Devin Baldwin & Unique Perez (Cordova, Rancho Cordova)
Perez completed 25 of 37 passes for 442 yards and two touchdowns during a 35-28 loss to Union Mine of El Dorado with most of that going to Baldwin, a senior wide receiver. Baldwin caught 15 passes for 337 yards and both scores. It looks like Baldwin’s 337 is a reported state high so far this season and is high enough for state record book inclusion.

Taj Broomfield (West Hills, Santee)
It was a happy evening for West Hills in the 26th Mayor’s Cup rivalry vs. Santana after Broomfield paced a 45-42 victory. He rushed for 242 yards on just 15 carries and had three TDs. He also added an eight-yard TD on a reception.

Braeden Burke (Christian Brothers, Sacramento)
He completed 16 of his 22 pass attempts for 374 yards and six touchdowns as the Falcons soared their way to a 55-13 road win against Casa Roble of Orangevale. Malcolm Anderson was Burke’s leading target with five catches for 143 yards and four TDs.

Jaden Casey (El Camino, Oceanside)
Despite big passing totals, it was not a good night for Casey and his teammates in the Wildcats’ 42-24 loss to Carlsbad. He passed for 482 yards and three TDs on 26 completions in 43 attempts. It was his second 400-yard game of the season with the first being 401 against La Costa Canyon.

Nick Chapman (Aliso Niguel, Aliso Viejo)
None of Chapman’s yards came in junk time as he completed 26 of his 50 pass attempts for 395 yards and four touchdowns as the Wolverines clawed their way to a 42-41 win over Capistrano Valley of Mission Viejo.

Damon Cole (El Cerrito)
We couldn’t find name of the QB who threw the pass, but Cole was reported with a 99-yard TD reception that would tie a state record in the Gauchos’ 41-35 win over Pinole Valley of Pinole. He’s a 6-0, 170-pound junior who has been making big plays all season long.

Jake Constantine (Camarillo)
Standout senior QB for unbeaten Scorpions keyed their 49-45 come-from-behind win over Thousand Oaks. His 27-yard TD pass fro Frankie Tostado with 1:15 left was the game-winner. He also finished 25 of 34 for 304 yards and three TDs.

Andrew Daschbach (Sacred Heart Prep, Atherton)
After just four catches total over the Gators’ previous three games, he had a monster night during a 42-33 win over Burlingame as he caught 12 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Daschbach also was an all-state small schools player last spring in baseball.

Max Gilliam (Thousand Oaks)
In that wild-and-wacky 49-45 loss to unbeaten Camarillo, Gilliam had a monster outing for the Lancers. The Cal-bound QB went 15 of 18 passing for 326 yards and three TDs. He also ran for 135 yards on 29 carries with one score.

Milan Grice (Rancho Bernardo, San Diego)
This junior RB piled up 266 yards on 17 carries and hit paydirt three times to lead the Broncos past Ramona 38-7. He also scored on a pass reception in a win that improved RB to 7-2 overall.

Gianni Heard & R.J. Van Kampen (Valley Christian, Cerritos)
Heard was loud with 34 carries for 241 yards and three TDs to lead the Crusaders past Maranatha of Sierra Madre 37-6 in a win that clinched the Olympic League title. Van Kampen, who also plays quarterback, led the team in tackles on defense and came up with his ninth interception of the season.

Nyric Hinton & Khory Day (Fresno)
These two led Fresno High to at least a share of the North Yosemite League championship in a 52-35 win vs. McLane. The Warriors also are two wins away from reaching 500 wins dating back to 1892. Hinton rushed for 229 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns while Day passed for 205 yards on 14 of 16 with three TD passes and another two TDs rushing. Junior QB Julian Kelley of McLane passed for 330 yards and five touchdowns in a losing effort.

Tariq Hollandsworth (Sacramento)
Three of Tariq’s four touchdown runs on the night were from at least 55 yards as he rushed for 258 yards and four touchdowns in a 56-20 win over Burbank of Sacramento. With the win, the Dragons clinched their first Metro League title since 1992.

Darius Hulsey (Coachella Valley, Thermal)
While this performance actually came two weeks ago, we wanted to make a mention of it has he will earn a spot in our state record book after going 33 of 57 for 419 yards and five touchdowns during a 47-32 loss to La Quinta.

Bryan Ibarra (Godinez, Santa)
Among the rushing leaders in Orange County, he rushed for 265 yards and five touchdowns on 19 carries during a 49-21 road win over Estancia of Costa Mesa.

Jullen Ison (Moreau Catholic, Hayward)
The Mariners continue to bounce back from a recent loss American of Fremont after crushing Washington of Fremont 54-14 last week. Ison was slicin’ and dicin’ with 252 yards rushing on 18 carries. He scored four times on runs and had a 73-yard TD on a catch.

Anthony Johar (Kennedy, La Palma)
The Fighting Irish have been fighting to make the CIFSS Southern Division playoffs and they have a chance after winning their third game in a row last week behind Johar. He rushed for 334 yards and five touchdowns on 41 carries during a 43-28 win over Cypress.

Isaiah Jones (Porterville)
Among the state leaders, Jones rushed for a game high of 340 yards on 27 carries and scored five touchdowns as Porterville beat Delano 41-13. Jones now has 26 TDs for the season and 73 for his career.

Cole Kinder (Newport Beach, Newport Beach)
Not being kind to Marina of Huntington Beach and its hope of winning, Kinder rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries as the Sailors defeated the Vikings 60-35.

Grant Kingston (Anderson)
Continuing his chase of being crowned the top player in the CIF Northern Section, Kingston rushed for 236 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries during a 54-33 win over Corning. With four games this season of over 200 yards rushing, he now has 1,561 yards and 24 touchdowns with one game remaining in the regular season.

Sean Kuenzinger (Clovis)
He tied a school record by passing for six touchdowns and he completed 13 of 17 for 269 yards (that’s efficient) as the Cougars topped Clovis North 41-28 and moved closer to clinching a top seed in the upcoming CIF Central Section D1 playoffs.

Dante Love (River Valley, Yuba City)
He nearly had a perfect night as the only thing that stopped him on five of his six carries during a 68-7 win over River City of Sacramento was the end zone. Love finished with 204 yards on just the six carries and scored five touchdowns.

Chris Lubinsky & Austin Stiles (Ceres)
The Bulldogs picked up their first road win this season, 44-35 over El Capitan of Merced, as their junior signal caller Lubinsky passed for 368 yards and three touchdowns. Nine of those completions went to Stiles, who finished with 165 yards and all three receiving touchdowns.

Michael Martinson (Brea Olinda)
With their game played on Halloween night, he had the El Modena of Orange defense feeling like he was wearing a costume that wouldn’t allow him to be tackled. Martinson rushed for 274 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries during a 27-0 win for the Wildcats.

Connor McBride (Woodbridge, Irvine)
Another example of a team trying to use a late season winning streak to get into the postseason, the Warriors had won three straight after a 40-30 win over Beckman of Irvine that saw their standout junior running back go for 286 yards and four touchdowns on 32 carries.

Tyler Nevens (Los Altos, Hacienda Heights)
An all-state sophomore from last season, Nevens shined with 21 carries for 272 yards and four TDs as the Conqs conked West Covina 42-28. Nevens scored on runs of 21, 25, 60 and 79 yards. The win also put the outcome of the Hacienda League race into chaos.

Brett Neves (Downey, Modesto)
Making the most of his 13 completed passes, Neves ended the night with 461 passing yards and four touchdowns during a 62-22 win by the Knights (should be Jedi Knights) over Grace Davis of Modesto. It also was the second 400-yard outing by Neves, a 6-foot, 185-pound junior.

Ronnie Rivers & Danny Parangen (Freedom, Oakley)
These two both had strong outings as Freedom kept its NCS playoff hopes alive by beating Heritage of Brentwood 38-21. Rivers flowed for 215 yards rushing and two TDs and caught a 57-yard TD pass from QB Joey Sweeney. Parangen led the defense with four sacks.

Ryan Robards (Elk Grove)
We were there in person to see his impressive first quarter on the way to rushing for 233 yards and four touchdowns during a 35-0 win over Franklin of Elk Grove. Robards now has 34 TDs for the season and likely will get several playoff games to continue to add to his total.

Marcus Romero (Piedmont Hills, San Jose)
Throwing the ball 61 times on the night, he completed 34 passes for 308 yards and just one touchdown during a 28-17 loss to Santa Teresa of San Jose. Those 61 pass attempts in a game while not a state record will get Romero listed in our state record book.

DeMarcus Ross (Capital Christian, Sacramento)
Another week and another big performance by this senior for the undefeated Cougars. In a 62-3 romp past Mesa Verde of Citrus Heights, he rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns, caught a 58-yard touchdown pass and returned an interception for a score.

Matt Sciumbato (Royal, Simi Valley)
Completing 28 of his 49 pass attempts for 440 yards and five touchdowns, it was not enough to prevent a 44-37 loss by the Highlanders to Newbury Park.

Owen Scott (Placer, Auburn)
He scored five touchdowns on the night for unbeaten Placer in a 49-7 win over Lincoln. Four of Scott’s TDs were on rushes and he finished with 204 yards on just nine carries. He also caught a touchdown pass.

Zach Sowder (Yorba Linda)
He piled up nearly all the offense on Friday night during a 21-7 win over Esperanza of Anaheim as he caught six passes for 219 yards and all three of the Mustangs’ touchdowns.

Kolin Stock (Central Valley Christian, Visalia)
He set a school record with 43 carries and rushed for 227 yards and three touchdowns as the Cavaliers edged Selma 26-24 and clinched at least a share of the league championship.

Khalil Tate & Oluwale Betiku (Serra, Gardena)
These are probably first team all-state locks and continue to put up great totals to go with their obvious talent. In last week’s 41-34 triumph vs. Alemany of Mission Hills, Tate hit on 15 of 25 passes for 301 yards and five TDs and rushed 21 times for 199 yards and two other scores. Betiku came through with a career-high five sacks and dominated along the Cavaliers’ defensive front.

Andrew Tovar (Cathedral, Los Angeles)
The 6-foot-2 junior seems destined to finish his prep career high on several all-time state passing lists. After he hit on 30 of 47 passes for 340 yards and one TD last week in a 13-12 win vs. Harvard-Westlake, Tovar now has 2,464 yards and 33 TDs for the season. It was a nice bounceback win for the Phantoms on Halloween weekend after they lost for the first time this season in their previous game to La Canada St. Francis.

Emilio Ugarte (Hilltop, Chula Vista)
He connected on his fourth field goal of the night as Hilltop edged Mar Vista of Imperial Beach 19-16 in two overtimes. His second FG from 29 yards out with no time left sent the game into OT. His third from 27 yards out ended the first OT. The fourth was from 24 yards away.
