Sammy Fabian (Glendale)
According to Erik Boal of the L.A. Daily News, Fabian collected a hit on Thursday of this week against Burroughs of Burbank to extend her hitting streak to 33 straight games. In the last printed edition of the state record book, we listed the record at 31 by Melissa Kelm of Riverside Bethel Christian. We now have one of 45 by Zoe Casas of San Bernardino Aquinas that ended in her final game of last season. Casas also has gotten a hit in every game so far this season, but is a senior. Fabian theoretically can keep hers going for a long time. She is just a sophomore.
Players to Watch 200
MacKenzie Soper (Edison, Fresno)
She went 4-for-5 at the plate and set a school record by hitting three home runs and had a career high of seven RBI in a 22-0 romp past Corcoran at the Kerman Easter Classic. Soper also was the winning pitcher and struck out eight.

Cassidy Cangemi (Albert Einstein Academy, Santa Clarita)
It’s not going to take rocket science to figure out pitching to this freshman might be a bad idea. She hit three home runs and drove in eight runs during a 23-0 over Calvary Christian of Oxnard. On the season, she was hitting .692 with nine home runs and 34 runs batted in.

Kristen Ponce (North, Bakersfield)
Swinging a hot bat, she had impressive back to back performances as she homered and drove in five runs during a 12-10 win over Tulare Union of Tulare and then homered and drove in four runs during a 17-1 win over McFarland.

Natalie Lugo (South Hills, Covina)
Showing why she is headed to play at Florida, she allowed just two hits and had nine strikeouts in the circle while also going 2 for 2 with a triple at the plate during a 3-1 win over St. Paul of Santa Fe Springs.

Rebecca Gallis (Kern Valley, Lake Isabella)
There’s that girl again that we got to know during basketball season. Gallis was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and had a season high of six RBI in a 13-2 win over Arvin.
