FIRST TEAM OFFENSE

WR Collin Johnson (Valley Christian, San Jose) 6-3, 180, Jr.
Since he’s the son of former NFL Pro Bowler and Texas Longhorns’ All-American Johnnie Johnson, it wasn’t a huge surprise when he and his older brother Kirk both commited back in April to Texas as he become their first commitment for the 2016 class. Johnson also is No. 16 in our Class of 2016 Hot 100.

WR William Kehoe (Carmel) 6-1, 175, Sr.
Returning All-County choice by the Monterey Herald and Salinas Californian is the top returning pass catcher in the section with 54 receptions from last season that covered 1,044 yards and 10 TDs.

OL Jack Dreyer (Serra, San Mateo) 6-7, 270, Sr.
Despite not playing football until three years ago, Dreyer has turned in an impressive three years with the Padres so far that culminated earlier with week with a commitment to Stanford. Dreyer also is No. 92 in the Cal-Hi Sports Hot 100 for the Class of 2015.

OL Adagio Lopeti (Woodside) 6-4, 315, Sr.
He was named to the All-Daily News 2nd team last season and has impressive size. This big man also plays on defense and plays basketball as well.

C Christian Villanueva (Serra, San Mateo) 6-1, 215, Sr.
Named to the WCAL all-league 2nd team last year, Villanueva helped block for an offense that averaged over 400 yards per game. Playing center is a key position at Serra and Villanueva has been effective in that role.

OL Trevor Thomas (Valley Christian, San Jose) 6-4, 300, Sr.
Trevor’s honors from last year weren’t off the charts, but at the NFTC last spring he was clearly in the top group of the offensive linemen and is receiving D1 college interest.

OL Tevita Musika (Milpitas) 6-1, 300, Sr.
Leading the way for an offensive attack that averaged 380 yards per game rushing the ball, Musika was named the most valuable lineman in the SCVAL De Anza Division and was All-Mercury News first team.

QB Anthony Gordon (Terra Nova, Pacifica) 6-2, 185
He can certainly throw a ball, even if it’s a baseball, as he passed for 3,406 yards and 32 touchdowns last season as the Tigers went undefeated in the Peninsula Bay League. That total set a school record for yards thrown in a single season, which was a record once held by his uncle Greg Reynolds and his father Ryan Gordon.

RB Kava Cassidy (Serra, San Mateo) 6-1, 195, Sr.
Named WCAL Co-Junior of the Year along with Kirk Johnson last season, he averaged over 100 yards per game rushing. In 14 games against sturdy competition, Kava ran for 1,455 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also caught 24 passes for 236 yards and three more scores.

RB Kirk Johnson (Valley Christian, San Jose) 6-0, 185, Sr.
Despite only playing in seven games last season because of an injury, this Texas-bound back still rushed for over 1,000 yards with 1,228 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he was all-state sophomore.

RB Joey Wood (Los Gatos) 5-9, 215, Sr.
After rushing for 1,015 yards and 13 touchdowns as a sophomore, he had high expectations last season and he more then lived up to the hype as he rushed for 1,964 yards and 28 touchdowns in leading the Wildcats to the CCS Division II championship.

PK Matt Schonher (Los Altos) 6-3, 180, Sr.
In addition to booting seven field goals in 10 attempts last season (with a longest of 45 yards), Schonher also had 50 tackles and three interceptions as a DB.

FIRST TEAM DEFENSE

DL Dan Dunham (Valley Christian, San Jose) 6-1, 270, Sr.
A key member of the Warriors’ highly ranked defense, Dunham was a first-team All-WCAL and second-team All-Mercury News selection last season.

DL Jason Scrempos (Milpitas) 6-6, 260, Sr.
Nearly recording a triple-digit tackle total last season, he had 99 tackles and 12 sacks to earn the De Anza Division Defensive Lineman of the year award. He has offers from Washington and Arizona among many and was strongly considered for all-state first team juniors. Scrempos was No. 71 in the Cal-Hi Sports Hot 100 for the Class of 2015.

DL Thomas Toki (St. Francis, Mountain View) 6-0, 290, Sr.
While he is a bit of a new name on the CCS scene, Toki will quickly be one that will be learned. He reportedly benches 400 pounds, he’s got some recruiting services giving him four stars (he’s committed to Washington State) and should help the St. Francis defense rank among the best in the CCS. Toki played last year at Juanita of Kirkland, Wash.

LB Dante Gomez (Aptos) 6-1, 230, Sr.
He had five interceptions last season and was an impact player for the CCS Division III champions. He also was chosen as the Junior of the Year in the Santa Cruz County Athletic League.

LB Jacob Moen (Christopher, Gilroy) 6-3, 225, Sr.
While his ability to catch the ball and block as a tight end has him getting offers from schools like BYU and Sacramento State, it’s on the defense where he makes our preseason team after he followed up a 161-tackle sophomore season with a 162 tackles as a junior.

LB Jesse Osuna (Valley Christian, San Jose) 6-0, 205, Sr.
While he plays on both sides of the ball, it was on the defensive side that got him some attention during the summer as he was named one of the top 10 defensive prospects at the NorCal Rivals Camp Series after earning WCAL co-linebacker of the year. He can block like a beast at fullback, too.

LB Ryan Quadros (Live Oak, Morgan Hill) 6-0, 225, Jr.
He is on his way to being a four-year varsity player for the Acorns. Ryan followed up his 68 tackles from his freshman year with 138 last season. He was given the No. 100 spot in the Class of 2016 Hot 100 player rankings.

DB Hakeem Mays (Willow Glen, San Jose) 5-11, 180, Sr.
While his over 2,100 yards and 29 touchdowns rrushing the ball on offense stands out the most, Mays also had 35 tackles and five interceptions on defense. That made it easy to pick him on defense instead of offense where one of the other three RBs would have had to drop.

DB Dakari Monroe (Archbishop Mitty, San Jose) 5-9, 175, Sr.
Another threat on both sides of the ball, Monroe scored on rushing and receiving plays on offense last year while also scoring on defense on a fumble return. The San Jose-Mercury News named him to its 2nd team at the utility position.

DB Riley Quinn (St. Francis, Mountain View) Sr.
Despite being born without a left hand, it hasn’t kept Riley from playing football, basketball and baseball for the Lancers. He recorded 72 tackles and had four interception last season. Here’s a video link to see him in action:

DB Dalton Weitzel (Aptos) 6-0, 170, Sr.
After he picked off 10 passes last season to rank among the state leaders, Weitzel was named as the Defensive Player of the Year by the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

P Aaron Tillak (Piedmont Hills, San Jose) 5-11, 175, Sr.
Another of the most versatile players in the CCS, Tillak averaged 36.8 yards per punt as a junior and put 13 of his punts inside the 20-yard line. He also played QB, WR and DB.

FIRST TEAM MULTI-PURPOSE

RB/LB Ben Burr-Kirven (Sacred Heart Prep, Atherton) 6-1, 205, Sr.
After starting at defensive end his sophomore season, Ben was moved to linebacker last year and put in a performance that earned him the San Jose Mercury News Player of the Year honor. Burr-Kirven had 136 tackles, six sacks and four interceptions. Filling in at RB, he also had some big playoff performances rushing the ball as the Gators made it to the CIF Division III State Bowl Game.

WR/KR Eli Givens (Palo Alto) 6-1, 185, Jr.
Playing in just nine games last season, Givens had 21 catches for 664 yards and six touchdowns and you would expect that to go way up this season. He’s definitely hard to catch in the open field, which also was illustrated with his victory in the CCS 100-meter dash final.

WR/KR Brandon Monroe (Serra, San Mateo) 6-0, 170, Jr.
This was another sophomore last season who doesn’t have eye opening numbers but has some big-time talent that shone through in the Serra games we attended. Monroe caught 16 passes for 352 yards and three touchdowns.

QB/RB Connor Marden (Carmel) 6-0, 170, Sr.
If there was a high school fantasy football league, Marden would be a great guy to have. The dual threat from behind center passed for over 2,300 yards and rushed for over 500 yards his sophomore season and then passed for 2,706 yards and 25 touchdowns while rushing for over 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.

RB/LB Andrew Robinson (Sacred Heart Prep, Atherton) 5-9, 185, Sr.
Seeing some time on both sides of the football, Andrew made his biggest impact on defense as he recorded 122 tackles and intercepted four passes for the Gators during their CIF Northern California Division III championship season.

RB/DB Jamar Williams-Sheppard (Sacred Heart Cathedral, San Francisco) 6-2, 205, Jr.
He earned Sophomore of the Year honors in the WCAL despite the Fightin Irish winning just two games all season. Wiliams-Shepard also was on the all-state sophomore team.

SECOND TEAM OFFENSE, DEFENSE & MULTI-PURPOSE

He was listed as a junior on at least two honors teams we saw. The mistake was simply continued. Apologies to someone else who might have been chosen. Can’t go back and re-do it now.
