T.J. Ashmeade (Katella, Anaheim)
In a 48-17 win over Magnolia of Anaheim that clinched at least a share of the Orange League championship, Ashmeade made it happen for Katella with 250 yards rushing and three scores.

D’Juan Bellaire (Center, Antelope)
Outscoring Foothill of Sacramento on his own, Bellaire rushed for 316 yards and five touchdowns as the Cougars picked up the 68-7 win. Bellaire will the going up against the rarified air of unbeaten Placer of Auburn in this week’s game for the 8-1 Cougars.

Nick Bernardo (Oak Grove, San Jose)
The Eagles’ senior has had some big days in helping his team get to 8-0 this season, but in last week’s 30-23 win over crosstown Pioneer he had a career day on both sides of the ball. On offense, he rushed for a best-ever 221 yards and two TDs, including a 71-yard run. Defensively, Bernardo had a sack, two tackles for losses, and 15 total tackles with the final one a huge stop on fourth-and-inches at the Oak Grove 8-yard line in the final minute to preserve the unbeaten record.

Wayne Brooks (Stagg, Stockton)
While Brooks and his team didn’t stay unbeaten in a 43-34 loss to perennial power St. Mary’s, he and the rest of the Delta Kings showed they’ll be a force in the upcoming Sac-Joaquin Section D1 playoffs as well as for next year by hanging right in there with the Rams. Brooks, one of many top underclass starters at Stagg, shined with 356 yards of passing and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 143 yards, highlighted with a 76-yard touchdown.

Triston Brown (Paraclete, Lancaster)
The junior WR/DB was a one-man wrecking crew against Windward of Los Angeles last Friday night in Paraclete’s 57-6 win over the visiting Wildcats. He accounted for 24 of the Spirits’ points. Defensively, he had three interception returns (45, 95, 11) for touchdowns to go along with a 63-yard touchdown reception.

Sage Burmeister (La Jolla Country Day)
Making sure his senior night was one to remember, Sage carried the ball 28 times for 242 yards and four touchdowns in a 51-34 win over Bishop’s of La Jolla.

Named as one of the two Prep Players of the Week by the Modesto Bee, Cantu rushed for a career-high 297 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries in a 34-18 win over Turlock Christian.

Michael Carroll (St. Vincent de Paul, Petaluma)
He came up huge on defense for the second straight week. Two weeks ago in a blanking of Tomales, the Mustangs’ co-captain had 14 tackles with two for loss. Last week, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound senior linebacker upped it to 17 tackles with two for loss in a surprisingly easy 42-6 win at Upper Lake. He also had a TD reception on offense in each of the last two games.

Nathan Chunn (Escalon)
Chunn was churning out yards once again for the Cougars, this time in their 54-35 triumph against Modesto Christian. He finished with 34 carries for 248 yards and scored four touchdowns.

Zack Claiborne (Oak Ridge, El Dorado Hills)
He was a terror to Pleasant Grove’s effort to throw the football as he recorded four sacks for the Trojans in their 38-19 win. If Pleasant Grove were to upset Folsom this week, the win could help Oak Ridge set up a three-way tie for the Delta River Conference title.

Austin Connolly (Justin-Siena, Napa)
The Braves’ senior running back/linebacker may be a bit lean but he was pretty mean on both sides of the ball in a rout of San Rafael. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder only had eight carries but went for 208 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, he had eight tackles, a sack and a batted pass.

Kyle Cota (Nevada Union, Grass Valley)
In a 45-35 shootout loss to Del Oro of Loomis, Cota completed 27 of his 49 pass attempts for 448 yards and three scores.

Blake Cox (Crean Lutheran, Irvine)
Leading the rushing attack for the Saints, Cox ran for 252 yards in a 28-7 win over Sage Hill of Newport Beach.

Richard Doctor & Anthony Rosa (Lemoore)
The doctor was definitely in as he rushed for 300 yards on 28 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 43-14 win by the Tigers over El Diamante of Visalia. Teammate Rosa tied a school record in the same game with three interceptions and scored one touchdown with a 54-yard punt return.

Justin Ewing (Capuchino, San Bruno)
Ewing went over the 300-yard mark for the second straight week, and he scored the final TD in a 30-20 comeback win over San Mateo, in a game the Mustangs led 17-0 at the half. The CCS rushing leader and No. 3 reported rusher in the state finished with 42 carries for 303 yards and three touchdowns. He now has 2,223 yards on the ground and his 291 carries this season is close to making that list in the Cal-Hi Sports State Record Book.

Austyn Fink (Boron)
No stranger to being listed here, he completed 26 of his 35 pass attempts for 440 yards and six touchdowns in a 75-21 win over Silver Valley of Yermo. Boron improved to 9-1.

Robert Frazier (Elk Grove)
Continuing his thundering the ball for big chunks of yards, Frazier carried 16 times for 217 yards and five touchdowns in a 54-40 win for the Thundering Herd over Monterey Trail of Elk Grove.

Royce Freeman (Imperial)
In the Tigers’ final home game of the regular season, this junior was the center of attention in their 64-7 win over Central of El Centro. Freeman scored five rushing touchdowns, one from 95 yards out, and caught a 63-yard touchdown pass.

Angel Guillen (Prospect, Saratoga)
He threw for 353 yards and two TDs but his team fell 37-29 to crosstown San Jose. Academy.

Fabiano Hale (Soquel)
It wasn’t rain or sleet, but Hale in the Knights’ 56-24 win over rival Felton San Lorenzo Valley. Hale poured it on for 234 yards rushing and four touchdowns.

Javin Harrison (Washington Union, Easton)
The junior became the first running back in school history to rush for 300 yards in one game. Javin rushed for 337 yards on 24 carries and scored three touchdowns on runs of 15, 65, 42 yards in a 42-9 win over Yosemite of Oakhurst.

Romello Harris & Oscar Reyes (Tulare)
Harris, just a freshman and looking like the next record-breaking player from Tulare, rushed for a game-high of 204 yards and one touchdowns and set a school record of 42 carries when the Redskins topped Mission Oak of Tulare 27-14. Reyes, meanwhile, set two section records by passing for 125 yards and two touchdowns which gives him 8,715 career passing yards and 91 career touchdowns surpassing Emmanuel Lewis of Tulare in both categories.

Nikko Hayes (Lompoc)
A total of 187 yards rushing and three touchdowns is a nice night but it is even better when you realize Nikko only carried three times as the Braves defeated Nipomo 58-13 to win their state-leading 29th straight game.

Trayvon Henderson (Grant, Sacramento)
Catching the ball on both sides of the field, Henderson had two interceptions on defense and caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown as the Pacers defeated Davis 48-14.

Jack Heneghan (Menlo School, Atherton)
The highly-regarded junior was like a demolition derby contestant in a 56-21 victory over Redwood City Sequoia. He completed 32 of 42 passes for 393 yards and four touchdowns, and rushed for 74 yards and three more scores. Heneghan also passed for a 2-point conversion.

Anthony Hines (El Camino, South San Francisco)
He helped his team record its fifth shutout this season after rushing for 218 yards in a 32-0 win over Millbrae Mills.

Trevor Hodge (Citrus Hill, Perris)
Unbeaten Citrus Hill had one of its best wins of the season in topping explosive Tahquitz of Hemet last week 47-21. Hodge was primarily the reason for the win. He ran 15 times for 176 yards and one score and completed 12 of 17 passes for 99 yards and another touchown.

Josiah Johnson (Sacramento)
It would be hard for Johnson to not have a much better night in a 53-0 win over Kennedy as he completed 17 of his 22 pass attempts for 467 yards and seven touchdowns. It could be the most times for a Johnson of Sac High being a state stat star since Mayor Kevin Johnson was at the school playing basketball.

Mike Lauck & Austin Woodard (St. Francis, Mountain View)
Lauck, a senior quarterback, passed for a career-high of 330 yards and four TDs in a 48-14 win over Archbishop Riordan of San Francisco. His favorite target, wide receiver Woodard, caught 14 of the passes for 165 yards and two scores. Woodard’s total also is a new WCAL record, surpassing the previous best of 12 set in 1995 by Dustin Delucchi from Serra of San Mateo. No, Dustin didn’t catch those passes from Tom Brady. That was one year after Brady’s senior season at Serra.

Roland Luke (Wilcox, Santa Clara)
The way Luke scored three different TDs was no fluke, although it was a bit unusual. In a 36-26 victory over archrival Santa Clara, the senior running back rushed for a TD, connected on a halfback option pass for another, and returned a fumble 80 yards to pay dirt on defense.

Brandon Martinez (El Monte)
Leading the Lions to their fourth win in Mission Valley League play this season, Martinez completed 21 of his 38 pass attempts for 417 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-14 win over Gabrielino of San Gabriel.

Josh Martinez (Bellarmine-Jefferson, Burbank)
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out Josh’s rushing average for what he did in leading Bell-Jeff past St. Genevieve of Panorama City 55-28. Martinez carried 32 times for 320 yards and scored five touchdowns. He also added a pair of 2-point conversions.

Dante Mayes & Darrell Daniels (Freedom, Oakley)
In a 34-14 victory over rival Antioch Deer Valley that meant a lot in the Bay Valley Athletic League title race, it was this senior duo that connected to seal the deal. Mayes, a 6-foot-1 senior quarterback who is getting D1 looks, threw for 357 yards and two scores. Washington-bound wide receiver Daniels caught 11 of his passes for 195 yards and a touchdown.

Sam Metcalf (Farmersville)
The sophomore quarterback set a school record by passing 431 yards on 20 completions in 42 attempts and had four touchdowns in a 73-26 losing effort against unbeaten Mission Prep of San Luis Obispo on October 19. Both teams also accounted for 1,181 yards of offense.

Brett Miller (San Clemente)
Going a perfect 3-for-3 on extra points in a 29-21 win over Tesoro, Miller surpassed the CIF Southern Section for consecutive PATs of 106 set last year by John McGrory of Santa Margarita. He starts this week with 108 and needs seven more to tie the state record of 115 set in 2008 by Roman Ferreira from Cathedral Catholic of San Diego.

Grant Miller (Amador Valley, Pleasanton)
Miller played top bill, and helped his team play spoiler again this season. In a 24-21 victory over Danville Monte Vista, a game the Dons trailed 14-0, the senior wide receiver had six catches for 222 yards with three touchdowns.

Brandon Monroe (Del Oro, Loomis)
Helping the Golden Eagles bounce back from a loss to Granite Bay, the San Jose State-bound Monroe brought the thunder and the lightning in a 45-35 win over Nevada Union of Grass Valley. He caught four passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 192 yards and two scores on 30 carries.

Dylan Osborne (Villa Park)
Setting two new school records in a 46-9 win by the Spartans over Canyon of Anaheim, he completed 23 of his 30 pass attempts for 363 yards and five touchdowns.

Lucas Owan & Jake Browning (Folsom)
As the leading target for Browning, Owan caught eight passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns as the Bulldogs dominated in the second half to pick up a 45-25 win over Ponderosa of Shingle Springs to remain undefeated. Browning finished the night with 393 passing yards and four touchdowns.

Francis Owusu (Oaks Christian, Westlake Village)
Normally known as a standout wide receiver, Owusu made the most of his first two carries of the season as he ran for a 90-yard touchdown and then an 88-yard touchdown in a 55-7 win over Moorpark. Owusu also had an interception on defense and set up a score with a 46-yard catch.

Dallas Parent (Troy, Fullerton)
Handed the ball 31 times, he rushed for 290 yards and two scores in 45-35 road win over Fullerton.

Kaleb Parrish (St. Mary’s, Stockton)
Another week and another big outing for the Rams’ junior. This time, Parrish connected on 18 of 26 through the air for 321 yards and three touchdowns as the team outlasted previously unbeaten Stagg of Stockton 43-34. Parrish also scored on a 8-yard run.

Jeffrey Prothro (James Logan, Union City)
The Colts’ quarterback only played one half but threw for four TDs and rushed for two more in a huge blowout of Fremont Irvington.

Spenser Quash (Harker Academy, San Jose)
After passing for 396 yards and five TDs and running for 90 yards and three scores to make eight total, opponent Sunnyvale Fremont couldn’t squash Quash but they did put up more offense than the Eagles’ quarterback, in a record-setting 90-56. The two teams’ combined point total of 146 points set a NorCal record and moved to No. 2 on the state list behind the 86-79 contest played two weeks ago between Porterville and Tulare.

Max Redfield & Alex Suchesk (Mission Viejo)
Redfield caught 10 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown while Suchesk rushed for 203 yards and three touchdown on 17 carries in state No. 4 Mission’s 55-32 win over Tesoro.

Hayden Rettig (Cathedral, Los Angeles)
Making Harvard-Westlake’s homecoming less enjoyable, Rettig passed for 446 yards and three touchdowns as he completed 30 of his 59 pass attempts in the 37-27 road win for the Phantoms.

Andrew Rodriguez (Colusa)
The RedHawks jumped out to a 21-14 lead after one quarter before ending up on the losing end of a 55-28 final score against Hamilton, but Rodriguez did all he could. He carried 19 times for 302 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught a 60-yard touchdown pass.

Harris Ross (Pittsburg)
The junior running back nearly doubled his season output after rushing for 237 yards and two TDs in only 14 carries in a 34-18 win by the Pirates over Brentwood Heritage.

Christian Rossi (Clovis North)
He set two new school records by passing for 362 yards on 27 completions and he also tied his own school record with four touchdowns in a 38-33 losing effort against Clovis. Teammate Tymon Locklin also caught three touchdown passes for another school record.

Jonathan Santos (South East, South Gate)
In a battle of two teams from South Gate, he made sure it was the Jaguars that picked up the 51-10 win as he completed 19 of his 25 pass attempts for 307 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 31 yards on six carries.

Tommy Sawyer (Foresthill)
His arm was on fire, throwing the ball against Delta of Clarksburg for six touchdowns and 246 yards on just 10 completions. Sawyer, who also rushed for 70 yards, led Foresthill to a 56-14 victory.

Isaiah Sharp (Wasco)
Just a sophomore, Sharp was like a razor slicing through the defense of Arvin in unbeaten Wasco’s 56-28 win. He finished with 338 yards on 34 carries and scored four times, including a pair of 81-yard runs.

Keenan Smith & Joseph De Los Santos (Fremont, Sunnyvale)
In a 90-56 victory over San Jose Harker that saw Fremont set a record for the most points ever in a CCS contest, it was Smith that did most of the heavy lifting. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound junior running back ran for 389 yards on 19 carries with five touchdowns, and caught three balls for 90 yards and two more TDs for scores number six and seven. Slot back De Los Santos scored four TDs three different ways. The senior rushed for two, caught a pass for another, and returned a kickoff 82 yards for the fourth score. We do have a 95-5 score in our files from 1909 when St. Matthew’s of San Mateo defeated Hoitt’s of Burlingame. That was long before there was a CCS, however, and both schools closed many years ago.

Jacob Taylor (Rim of the World, Lake Arrowhead)
With one week to go in the regular season, Taylor continues to rank near the top of the state rushing charts and had another strong outing when Rim rammed Rubidoux of Riverside 55-6. He carried 23 times for 342 yards and four scores and now has more than 2,300 yards for the season.

Kevin Teskey (Pacific Grove)
As far as host Gonzales was concerned, Teskey was a huge pest. The Breakers’ running back rushed for 258 yards and five TDs and had 88 yards receiving and a sixth score.

Alex Torres (Modoc, Alturas)
Not only did Alex carry the ball nine times for 234 yards and three touchdowns but he also caught three passes for 89 yards as the Braves defeated Burney 49-20. He was just as busy on defense as well with 12 tackles and an interception.

Sean Tow (Union Mine, El Dorado)
Another familiar name, this talented back carried the ball 29 times for 370 yards and four touchdowns as the Diamondbacks defeated El Dorado of Placerville 53-28.

Marqus Valenzuela (San Gabriel)
Despite Valenzuela passing for 456 yards and one touchdown, it wasn’t enough to prevent a 26-19 loss for the Matadors to Bell Gardens. Valenzuela completed 32 of 50 passes and put his season total past 2,800 yards.

Danny Vos (Ripon Christian)
The senior quarterback-kicker completed 9 of 13 passes for 312 yards and had four TDs to lead the Knights past Gustine 54-17. With his foot, Vos added six PATs (on seven attempts) and made two field goals (19, 31 yards).

Jonathan Walters (Saratoga)
The CCS reported passing leader got huge yards in the Falcons’ no huddle offense, but his 395 yards passing and four TDs wasn’t enough in a 51-34 loss at Palo Alto.

Justin Williams (El Camino, Oceanside)
Racking up his fourth 200-yard game of the season, Williams had 235 yards on 21 carries and scored three times to lead the Wildcats past Carlsbad 31-28.

Jay Yesin (Concord)
Yesin had the Minutemen faithful saying “yes sir” after his five touchdown performance in a 68-12 win over crosstown Mt. Diablo. Yesin caught two early TD passes, he returned an interception 77 yards for a score, and then in the third quarter he returned punts of 30 and 68 yards for scores.
