Comments: Although they had some unexpected setbacks during the regular season, when it came down to the Southern Section’s cut-throat single-elimination playoffs, Tyler Matzek (Colorado Rockies, 11th pick) and his teammates were simply too tough, zipping past three teams into the top spot here. Chatsworth also proved itself to be the best in the L.A. City but unlike basketball, the City is not nearly as deep as the Southern Section. The South ruled in this division where No. 5 Serra (San Mateo) was as high on the ratings as the North would get. Clearly, this division is dominant as three-quarters of the state’s Top 40 teams dwell here.
