Softball: Rain wipes out two top events

It didn’t matter if it was in Anaheim Hills or Livermore, there was too much wet weather last weekend throughout the state. As a result, both the Michelle Carew Classic and Livermore Stampede, two of the state’s top in-season softball tournaments, were severely curtailed.

Cal-Hi Sports picks the NorCal boys field for the first CIF Open Division

This is what we think will happen during Sunday’s selection meetings and what we hope will happen. Go inside as well to check out which teams look solid to be top seeds in each “regular” division.

New State Top 20 Boys BB Rankings

A group of three newcomers this week are led by red-hot La Verne Lutheran, and also include Deer Valley and La Costa Canyon. Corona Centennial, L.A. Loyola and L.A. Windward are out after losing in respective section quarterfinals.

New State Top 20 Boys BB Rankings

There’s not much movement this week, but expect that to change in the next two weeks as section playoffs tip off around the state. Red-hot Windward of Los Angeles and Pleasant Grove of Elk Grove are this week’s newcomers. Rancho Cucamonga win over Etiwanda also creates rankings and playoff ramifications.
