Among others earning top state honors are Tara Davis of Agoura (juniors), Gracie Figueroa of Selma (sophomores), Fiona O’Keeffe of Davis (Division I) and Andrea Lee of Manhattan Beach Mira Costa (Division II). Solin Pearcy of Cupertino also is third-ever State Three-Sport Athlete of the Year.
Announcement of the 34th annual Cal-Hi Sports all-state teams for softball continues with honors for the best of the best among those from medium or small schools. Medium schools are those that were eligible for our Division III state rankings plus some that were Division II (outside of the CIF Southern Section). Small schools are...
Alissa Cienfugos of Carson is latest home run hitting standout from softball program that’s had many in recent seasons. Maddie Dwyer’s great outing for Orange Lutheran against Amador Valley also just had to be written up. For baseball, a great doubleheader outing by Burney’s Ray Guerrero and a no-hitter in the super tough Mission League […]
This week’s honorees made some threes, brought opponents to their knees and in the clutch did not freeze. They’re from Tulare, Lake Isabella, Sherman Oaks and Los Angeles. Note: For purposes of this feature, we are considering the CIF Central Section to be in the north. To nominate a player for next week, email firstname.lastname@example.org […]
Eddy Ionescu of the Orinda Miramonte boys is starting to rack up totals that approach what his twin sis usually does for the unbeaten nationally ranked Miramonte girls. Noah Valencia of CSD Riverside also has another huge week with three games all above 40 points. For the girls, Lillian Olson of Sacramento Waldorf nets career […]
It’s a 50-point party for Marin Academy’s Kyle Roach and Santa Barbara’s Amber Melgoza. We’ve got some huge grid-hooper standouts as well, led by Sheldon Croney from Ridgeview of Bakersfield, plus one team with a quadruple-double and triple-double in the same game.
Just like we did during the football season, we are going to do our best to spread around these honors as much as possible with one boy and one girl chosen from each region. This week’s best are from Torrance, Santa Rosa, Lake Isabella and Hesperia.
For the boys, Roach roasts for 46, Ledine is more than fine with 39 and Torres gets torrid for Pioneer. For the girls, another Destanee can score almost as much as Destiny while Maranatha’s Fluker becomes a rebounding machine.
It’s another week of stat stuffing excellence, including a boy from Branham (in San Jose) and a girl named Branham (frem West Ranch of Valencia). We also have Cole Lockwood from Santa Clara (41 points) and Ali Englehart (21 of 24 free throws).
