The top four and really even newcomer Ayala of Chino Hills at No. 5 can all make strong arguments for being in the No. 1 position. This week’s first regular season state rankings also includes results from Tuesday of this week, led by unbeaten JSerra of San Juan Capistrano sweeping a pair in a double-header...

NEW State Top 50 FB Ranks (26-50)
We tried to get all of this weekend CIF D2-AA and D2-A state finalists into these rankings, but couldn’t quite make it thanks to Oxnard (now No. 50) having a head-to-head win over Pacifica of Oxnard (which would be No. 51 if we counted it that far). In addition to Oxnard, two other newcomers this...
World Series Alums: Lowest Total Ever For California
We knew it might not be a good year for ex-California high school players in the World Series when both the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees (who both have a lot of Californians on their rosters) could get to the Fall Classic. Instead, we have the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros and the […]
NEW State Top 50 FB Ranks (26-50)
Vista Murrieta and Cardinal Newman make returns to the State Top 50 this week, but for different reasons. We also welcome in for the first time Oxnard and Steele Canyon of Spring Valley. One of those beat a previously ranked team to go in. The other is on track to be 9-0 when it faces...
NEW State Top 50 FB Ranks (26-50)
For the second time in three weeks, there’s a team from the CIF Southern Section’s Southwestern League that wins a huge game, stays unbeaten and gets to jump way up into the state rankings. A big welcome to Chaparral of Temecula. We also have two other newcomers for this week’s rankings and both of those...

These are the best of the best for juniors, sophomores and freshmen. It’s harder for the younger players grouped with the juniors, but some sophomores broke through and our State Freshman of the...
FINAL Softball Expanded Top 40
It takes us extra time to produce, but as is our custom we have gone through all information collected during the 2019 California high school softball season and are ready to release our expanded, final Top 40 overall team rankings. It’s hard to get bumps, especially when the CIF Southern Section playoffs had already ended...
Baseball: Divisional State Ranks
As the CIF Southern Section is about to slice up its playoff brackets in baseball to just four left in each one after Friday’s quarterfinals, some other section playoffs around the state (CCS, NCS, Sac-Joaquin) are just getting around to releasing their brackets. We wish we had more time to do more weeks of these […]
NEW Baseball State Top 25 Rankings
It’s already the last week of the regular season for a lot of teams (especially in Southern California) with the highlight being a three-game series between top 10 teams Harvard-Westlake and Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks). In this week’s rankings, we kept Orange Lutheran on top despite losing one of three games in a series to...
NEW Softball State Top 25 Ranks
One upset loss in extra innings to a team it has beaten before doesn’t cost Norco the No. 1 ranking in the state. Foothill of Pleasanton stays No. 2 but all of the teams beating each other throughout the rest of Southern California may pay off for the Falcons down the road if they finish...
