For the first time since 1986, a non-senior gains acclaim as the Cal-Hi Sports Mr. Football State Player of the Year. Antioch’s Najee Harris wins out due to the season he had, local consensus over another top candidate and how great he looked up close against top competition. NCS Drama: Foothill wins 55-54

Antioch standout junior Najee Harris rushes for 390 yards and six touchdowns, but comes up inches short on what would have been a probable game-winning two-point conversion in heart-wrenching loss to Foothill of Pleasanton. The Falcons (12-0) now get to play De La Salle.

State Stat Stars of the Week

Getting close or already having 2,000 yards rushing seemed to pump up several running backs last week, including Mikey Dean from Chaffey of Ontario, Isaac Jones of Porterville, Najee Harris of Antioch and Donovan Switalski of East Nicolaus. We also tip the hat to a QB with 506 yards passing in his final game and […]

S.F. Bay Area FB Ranks (Week 11)

Fallout from Antioch win over Pitt continues in an otherwise quiet week for upsets, big moves. We did flip-flop Monte Vista and Campolindo for No. 9 and No. 10 and didn’t drop either Amador Valley or California too far for losing to Foothill and De La Salle. Note: For this week’s Gold Club post highlighting […]

Big Little Game No Longer The Pitts

For Antioch, star back Najee Harris and teammates break an eight-year losing streak to arch-rival Pittsburg with 44-42 victory. The Panthers (10-0) also earned the No. 2 seed in the CIF North Coast Section Division I playoffs and have cracked the State Top 25 for the first time this century. We shouldn’t have to tell […]
