State Stat Stars of the Week

California’s latest member of the 3,000 point club is Ontario Christian’s Chloe Briggs (left). At right is La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad’s Christian Brown. For redheads from LCC, we still think of former State Athlete of the Year and NBA player Chase Budinger first, but watch out for Brown. Photos: Twitter.com.

This feature serves as our statewide collection of milestone achievements in California high school sports. For girls hoops this week, Ontario Christian’s Chloe Briggs leads the pack by becoming the 16th player in state history to reach 3,000 points in her career. Two of the girls written up, Sierra Maxwell from Heritage of Menifee and Jillian Nowicki of San Diego Our Lady of Peace, played each other. For the boys, one of the state’s top unsigned seniors has a big week (45 & 33 points). We also now have two brother head coaches who have each won 400 games.
