Last week on the FOX 40 Final Quarter high school football show, hosts Jim Crandell and Kristina Werner revealed a list of the top five defensive linemen this fall in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section, according to CalHiSports.com.
This is the sixth season that CalHiSports.com and FOX 40 have partnered together to have these SJS Top 5 lists as part of the station’s weekly high school football highlights show. Tune in on Fridays at 10:30 for the Game of the Week, top four plays and more. The top 5 list from last week’s show is later revealed on our site. For the top 5 list for this week, it will be the top five linebackers. Check out the show to see those names revealed.
5. Toe Tatafu (Inderkum, Sacramento)
He’s 6-1, 300 pounds and has been an inspiration to his teammates as he helps care for his mom and with his dad’s business.
4. Kanye Smith (Dixon)
A rush end at 6-4, 230 pounds, Smith had 12 tackles and a forced fumble in one game this season.
3. Zack Mercado (Vacaville Christian)
He was leading the section in sacks prior to his week four game and was the NorCal Defensive Player of the Week two weeks ago.
2. Jahzon Jacks (St. Mary’s, Stockton)
The Fresno State commit had a strong game recently in shutout vs St. Ignatius (San Francisco).
1. Devan Thompkins (Edison, Stockton)
He used to be known as a basketball player, but after his first game this season college offers poured in, including one from USC.
