(Rankings based on last week’s State Top 50 released last Monday)
(Through reported results of Saturday, April 16)

1. St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 5-1
LOST to No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 34-17 on Saturday. There’s no chance for the Braves to win in a rematch later on for this spring season. When score was 31-17 on first play of fourth quarter, it looked like Bosco was going to cut it to 31-24 on a TD run by Katin Houser, but he was hit and fumbled into the end zone where Mater Dei recovered.

2. Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 5-0
Defeated No. 1 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 34-17 on Saturday. Monarchs took the lead at 21-14 in the second quarter on a 64-yard bomb from freshman Elijah Brown to Kyron Ware-Hudson. They led 24-14 at halftime and only allowed a field in the second half. Brown ended with four TD passes. Our official announcement for State Team of the Year for this spring season will be done on Tuesday.

3. De La Salle (Concord) 6-0
Defeated Clayton Valley of Concord 21-7 on Saturday. It’s only six games, but counts as an unbeaten season. For DLS, that’s No. 22 in its history since 1972 (a state record).

4. Servite (Anaheim) 4-2
Defeated Santa Margarita (Rancho SM) 42-13. The Friars also figure to start out third or fourth for the next preseason state rankings.

One of the reasons that the Sierra Canyon defense was unscored on its last five games was the play of senior LB Cole Bullock. Photo: sierracanyonathletics.com.

5. Mission Viejo 4-1
LOST to No. 12 San Clemente 10-7. This result also will cause a different public school to be placed highest in this season’s final state rankings.

6. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) 4-1
Defeated Paraclete (Lancaster) 51-2. Trailblazers were leading 42-0 at halftime as they are beginning to look like the Bosco-MD of the San Fernando Valley.

Defeated Madison (San Diego) 51-0. All levels of the Dons’ program also finished unbeaten this spring.

8. Folsom 6-0

9. Serra (San Mateo) 5-0
Defeated St. Ignatius (San Francisco) 34-3 on Saturday. This was team that edged Serra 14-13 in 2019 and was 3-0. Dominique Lampkin had 263 yards passing, 47 yards rushing and accounted for three TDs.

10. Pittsburg 4-0
Defeated Antioch 47-8 on Saturday. Head coach Vic Galli’s squad won easily in the 102nd edition of the Big Little Game.

12. San Clemente 5-0

23. Long Beach Poly (Long Beach) 4-0
Defeated Millikan (Long Beach) 48-0. Could be one of the strangest unbeaten seasons in Poly’s amazing history, but it will count in our records.

24. La Habra 6-0
Defeated Sunny Hills (Fullerton) 28-21. The Lancers (also 5-0 coming in) had their chances, but La Habra won 13th league title in 14 years.
