After one round of games in the CIF Southern Section open pool play format, we still don’t have solid evidence based on the game results that, outside of NorCal No. 1 Sheldon, any of the state’s other top playoff teams should be ranked ahead of those eight. That could change starting next week, however, as there will be two pool play games this week and the rest of the state is about to gear up for the postseason. We also have our first team that was state-ranked for most of the season that is now done for the season after a playoff upset.
