The top three teams all had byes while No. 4 Mission Viejo and No. 5 De La Salle had fairly easy outings. With the two crazy games on Thursday in Southern California won by No. 9 Chaminade and No. 10 Calabasas, the biggest game in the state on Friday was in Granite Bay where No. 7 Folsom topped No. 23 Granite Bay 35-14. Upset of the night was unbeaten Westlake of Westlake Village, which was No. 39 in last week’s State Top 50, falling to Oxnard.

Note: On Monday mornings each week, look for a brand new State Top 50 set of football rankings that won’t simply be a list. We’ll have insights and breakdowns based on more than 40 years of going to Friday night games with an overview of the state’s top teams and what’s coming up that just can’t be matched. Mission Hills would dominate San Clemente. San Clemente barely beat a weak Oceanside Pirate team. Madison may be the 2nd best team in San Diego as well at this point. Good to see them in top 25.

Yes, but San Clemente had a great win over Murrieta Valley. Mission Hills still hasn’t played that great of a schedule. Will be great when they play rivals from San Marcos.
