Sac-Joaquin Top 5: Playoff Streaks

Last week on the latest FOX 40 Final Quarter high school football show of the 2016 season, hosts Jim Crandell and Kristina Werner revealed a list of the top five longest playoff streaks in CIF Sac-Joaquin Section history, according to CalHiSports.com and the section office.

Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Grant 26 years
The Pacers will be in the D2 bracket this year. One year ago was when they suffered the tragedy of a player dying in a shooting on the day of their playoff opener.

2. Granite Bay 18 years
It looked like the streak was over when the Grizzlies were 2-6 but they beat Woodcreek and Rocklin to end the regular season and the streak goes on.

3. (tie) Calaveras 17 years
Streak ended two seasons ago.

3. (tie) Escalon 17 years
Streak ended last season.

5. Central Catholic 16 years
The Modesto school also began the playoffs this season with four straight CIF state titles.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be the top five career rushing leaders in section history. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite game of the week. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
