BEST FOOTBALL RECORDS IN 2010s
(Through 2014 season)
(All according to the Cal-Hi Sports State Record Book)
(First 20 listed in order with writeups)
(Next group listed without writeups)

70-2 – Concord De La Salle (97.2%)
The Spartans already have had state’s best record for 1980s and 1990s, but they were edged for the 2000s by both St. Bonaventure of Ventura and Oaks Christian of Westlake Village.

69-6 – Folsom (92.0%)
When you go 16-0 like last year, a school tends to rocket past others on such a list. Two of the six losses were to De La Salle.

59-7 – Lompoc (89.4%)
We didn’t need the Braves to sign up to get our special package of all-time reported football scores to know that they’ve been very good so far this decade.

59-7 – Menifee Heritage (89.4%)
The Patriots got to the CIF Southern Section Inland Division semifinals last season before falling to Riverside Poly, 28-20.

45-6 – Mission Viejo (88.2%)
The Diablos won last year’s CIFSS West Valley Division crown after an uncharacteristic 0-2 start.

56-10 – Phelan Serrano (87.8%)
Head coach Ray Maholic’s program has gone 13-1, 10-2 and 12-2 the past three seasons.

57-8 – Perris Citrus Hill (87.7%)
The Hawks also are still above 85 percent for their all-time record since they began playing in 2005. There’s only two schools in the state that are better.

61-9 – Kentfield Marin Catholic (87.1%)
Some of the wins for the Wildcats were achieved when they were led by QB Jared Goff, who could be a first-round NFL draft pick next spring depending on how he does this season at Cal.

61-9 – Murrieta Vista Murrieta (87.1%)*
Head coach Coley Candaele will be adding AD duties this year in addition to leading both the football and track programs.

57-9 – Atherton Sacred Heart Prep (86.3%)
The new CIF Central Coast Section Open Division format turned out to be huge for the Gators since it was them and not a team from the WCAL that went all the way to the title.

59-9-1 – Newport Beach Corona del Mar (86.2%)**
After the Sea Kings became the first team in state history to finish 16-0 in 2013, they “slipped” last year to 10-2 and head coach Scott Meyer left for Anaheim Servite. New coach Dan Oshea will direct team in first game this year against Palos Verdes (a Sea Kings vs. the Sea Kings matchup).

55-9 – Oakland McClymonds (85.9%)*****
We are counting the Warriors at 14-0 for last season and don’t count those forfeit losses. They haven’t lost to another Oakland team since 2009.

53-9 – La Mesa Helix (85.5%)
After the first three seasons of the decade, the Highlanders were 34-3 and were among the state leaders.

64-11 – Corona Centennial (85.3%)
They may have won the CIFSS Pac-5 Division title last year, but the Huskies actually saw their winning percentage for the decade so far drop a point due to two early-season losses and then one to De La Salle in the CIF Open Division state bowl game.

52-9 – Le Grand (85.2%)
Heading into last season, the Bulldogs actually were second on this list. They drop after going 7-4 and not getting out of the first round of the CIFSJS D5 playoffs.

Malik Roberson was feeling super after Gardena Serra won CIFSS D2 title in 2012.

57-10 – Gardena Serra (85.1%)
Since Centennial ended up winning the 2014 CIFSS Pac-5 Division title and was tied 42-42 with De La Salle in the state bowl game, it’s a good bet that Cavalier fans will always wonder “what if” when they think about that 68-64 loss to the Huskies in that memorable CIFSS Pac-5 playoff opener.

56-10 – Moraga Campolindo (84.8%)
Yes, you could say that Cougars jumped a bunch of teams on this list after they went 16-0 last season on their magical journey to the CIF Division III state bowl crown.

58-11 – Moreno Valley Rancho Verde (84.0%)
The Mustangs lost in last year’s CIFSS Inland Division quarterfinals to Citrus Hill. Their decade record is boosted by a 14-0 showing in 2011.

54-10-1 – San Diego Madison (83.8%)
The Warhawks have played in the CIF D3 state bowl game twice so far in the decade – losing in 2010 to Escalon but winning in 2012 over Jared Goff and Marin Catholic.

51-10 – Carmel (83.6%)
Two dynamic quarterbacks – Devin Pearson and Connor Marden – have been leading the Padres since 2009. They both were three-year starters.

54-11 – Bakersfield (83.1%)
With a 9-3 record from last year, it actually was a disappointment for the Drillers since they won the CIF D1 state bowl game in 2013.

Thanks, Stu. I had Vacaville at 49-14 and just below 80 percent. If there’s a mistake somewhere in those on-line logs, let me know.

Sorry, I thought both were on the list. Had both in my notes. Helix computed to 85.5 percent and Oside to 82.8. Both now added.

Oceanside only had one tie against Mission Hills during the 2011 season. Not sure if that makes much difference in percentage ? 🙂

Excuse my math if I am wrong. According to MaxPreps Salesian of Richmond is 53-11 since 2010 (with 4 section titles). That’s a 82.8 winning percentage
