After previous No. 5 Alemany’s loss to Bishop Amat, putting all of the Mission League teams into some kind of order was very difficult but had to be done. One of this week’s newcomers, Milpitas, may be in the State 25 for the first time ever. In the CIF state bowl game rankings, meanwhile, all No. 1 teams are the same with the biggest news coming off the field in D4 North.

Check below for this week’s new list of the Cal-Hi Sports State 25 football rankings plus a list of the top few teams in the sixth CIF state bowl game divisional rankings for the 2014 season.

DIVISION I NORTH
1. De La Salle (Concord) 7-0
2. Folsom 7-0
3. Grant (Sacramento) 6-0
4. Foothill (Pleasanton) 6-0
5. Serra (San Mateo) 3-2

DIVISION II SOUTH
1. St. Francis (La Canada) 6-0

3. La Mirada 6-1
4. Corona del Mar (Newport Beach) 5-1
5. Heritage (Menifee) 6-0

DIVISION II NORTH
1. Clayton Valley (Concord) 6-0
2. Los Gatos 4-1*
3. Concord 5-0**
4. Oakdale 6-0
*With continued success, it becomes likely that Los Gatos would move to CCS Open Division playoffs and therefore would be considered D1 North for the bowl games.
**Does not include forfeit win.

DIVISION III SOUTH
1. El Capitan (Lakeside) 6-0
2. Lompoc 6-0
3. Paso Robles 7-0

DIVISION III NORTH
1. Campolindo (Moraga) 7-0
2. Palma (Salinas) 5-0*
3. Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton) 5-0*
4. Sutter 6-0
*With continued success, it becomes likely that both Palma and Sacred Heart Prep would move to CCS Open Division playoffs and therefore would be considered D1 North for bowl games.

DIVISION IV SOUTH
1. Christian (El Cajon) 6-0
2. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) 6-0
3. St. Margaret’s (SJ Capistrano) 6-0

DIVISION IV NORTH
1. Central Catholic (Modesto) 4-2
2. McClymonds (Oakland) 5-0
3. Capital Christian (Sacramento) 6-0
Note: McClymonds QB Kevin Davidson may end up being ineligible and the team may have to forfeit the games in which he played. If that happens, the Warriors could still win the Oakland Section title and become eligible for the CIF D4 bowl game. However, section commissioners rarely vote for a team with forfeit losses (ask Vista Murrieta down south). Even if it was a team that McClymonds beat on the field (example: Salesian of Richmond), the commissioners would look at the forfeit win for Salesian instead of the on-the-field win for the Warriors. At least that’s how they’ve tended to vote over the years.

Mark- what if Grant wins SJS D2 and Serra wins CCS Open (with 2 losses on their record-DLS, ND) who is likely to be pitted vs Folsom?

It’s a big question whether Grant will be SJS D2 or SJS D1 (same as Folsom). We just don’t know. My guess is that Grant will end up in SJS D1. However, if Grant doesn’t go to D1 and stays D2 and then wins out, it’s an easy call that the Pacers would be chosen over Serra to play Folsom. Not only would Grant be unbeaten, but the SJS team also has beaten the CCS Open Div champ the last two years. That fact will be pointed out and pretty sure would carry the room. Then a good team like Serra won’t be going anywhere and that will aid those who want to see the watered-down version of the CIF bowl games in which we’ll have 13 divisions and nine or 10 so-called state champions that would absolutely get slaughtered by every single team in the CIF Southern Section Pac-Five Division playoffs.

How can every team in the Pac 5 playoffs play in a Bowl game? The recent report stated only the section runner up may be invited.

They can’t. I was speaking in hypotheticals.

How is Milpitas ranked ranked above every team in Division 2 but yet you still dont have them going to state

Milpitas has been traditionally a D1 school by enrollment so we have been putting them in D1. I know that CCS D1 champion would be eligible for D2 bowl game but as of now my best estimate is that Milpitas will win league and go to CCS Open and thereby won’t be in CCS D1.
