These players were the best of the best for California high schools among teams that were considered Division III, Division IV or Division V for the state rankings. This is the 31st consecutive year for Cal-Hi Sports all-state teams in softball.

The top three teams in the final Cal-Hi Sports Division III state rankings – No. 1 Sierra of Manteca, No. 2 Santana of Santee and No. 3 Hemet – all placed two players on the All-State Medium Schools first team.

Sierra’s twosome of pitcher/hitter Allie Walljasper and infielder Sommer Wilson was joined by Santana’s Kayti Grable (a catcher) and Amber Schisler (multi-purpose) along with Hemet’s Taylor Vanzee (regarded as one of the top juniors in the nation) and Cheyenne Gandara (the team’s ace).

There is one school, however, that did even better on the All-State Small Schools’ selections. That would be Division IV state No. 1 Aquinas of San Bernardino. The Falcons placed both Zoe Casas (sophomore outfielder) and Jessica Valenzuela (senior infielder) on the first team and have Allie Hotetz (sophomore pitcher) on the second team.

For the first time, in our continuing effort to recognize and honor as many players as possible, we have added a 15-player second team for both the medium schools and small schools all-state teams.

Just wanted to mention that Meghan Bradbury of Salesian, Richmond was a sophomore this past season. She is listed as a junior. Thank you for the recognition! Congratulations to all these wonderful players!

Congrats to Taylor Glover, CF from Mira Costa H.S. in Manhattan Beach, CA. The speedy lead off hitter finished her high school career as she started, strong and dominate. This Cal-State Northridge commit is the one to watch next year as she will get Coach Flowers’ Matadors back to NCAA Tournament play. With Glover, CSUN brings in one of the top recruiting classes on the Westcoast for 2014. Opposing catchers will try to do something that no H.S. catcher has done in four years, catch Taylor stealing.
