Collision XVI: Justin Bibbins shines

Justin Bibbins of Division IV state champion Bishop Montgomery shines in Collision All-Star game putting some of the CIF Southern Section’s best basketball players versus the L.A. City Section. McDonald’s All-American Tom Welsh also stands out. We also rundown California performers in national all-star games.

NEW Divisional Boys BB Rankings

With the Open Division teams now being shown separately, the biggest changes are in Division III. Some of those in that division, however, are due to the usual way there are changes – and that’s ranked teams getting knocked off. These rankings include results from Wednesday and a projection for each CIF state final....

Boys BB: Top Loyola player leaves

Senior point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright, who has signed with Arizona, leaves Loyola of Los Angeles after admitting to academic misconduct.

Boys, Girls BB State Rank Updates

Mater Dei remains on top in both genders despite girls dropping game to St. Mary’s of Berkeley. Boys teams on the move include Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth and Capital Christian of Sacramento while on the girls side watch out for Sierra Canyon as well plus Chaminade of West Hills.

More State Schools of the Year

Torrey Pines tops the charts for girls sports, Loyola does it for boys sports only while other honorees include Archbishop Mitty (D2), Cathedral Catholic of San Diego (D3), Serra of Gardena (D4) and St. Joseph Notre Dame of Alameda (D5). Ten more schools also designated special mention for overall athletic excellence.

New State Top 20 Boys BB Rankings

Long Beach Poly remains No. 1 in the state rankings with its only loss to the nation’s top-rated team. Mater Dei climbs to No. 2 with Sheldon up to No. 3. New Top 20 for girls and first look at divisional state rankings coming early this week as well.
