Does the state’s previously mentioned Big Four now seem more like a Big Two after No. 3 Folsom and No. 4 Serra of Gardena escape upset bids? More big winners include No. 6 Mater Dei (over No. 5 Long Beach Poly), No. 8 Corona Centennial (set state record), No. 11 Serra of San Mateo (on […]

SoCal Preseason CIF Bowl Rankings

The biggest development from last season is the addition of an open division in the San Diego Section, thus adding one more bowl-eligible team into the D1 South mix and elevating defending Division III state champ Madison to Division II.

Final, Expanded State Top 50 Football Rankings (Part 1)

Toughest choices are between Folsom and Granite Bay for No. 6 and No. 7 and what to do in the aftermath of the San Francisco Bay Area’s No. 2 team losing in the CIF Division III bowl game. Check Friday morning for the final CIF bowl game rankings for every division.

CIFSS Proposal To Change Bowl Format Doesn’t Work For Rest of State

We’ve seen at least a few prep sportswriters around the state say that they’d like to see the CIF scrap the new regional bowl games. We don’t agree. Check back Thursday for this week’s State Stat Stars of the Week.
