JuJu Johnson (left) got attention as a freshman in the 2023 season at Long Beach Poly, which is why he was singled out in the first game of his sophomore season last year. It could be argued that the three players who would have been at the top of the state’s Class of 2027 to start the upcoming football season are three who reclassed to the Class of 2026. That doesn’t mean that the ones now near the top, led by Gardena Serra DB Duvay Williams, are not also highly coveted by colleges. This is our first in-depth look at this year’s juniors, but we did pick many of them on the 2024 season all-state sophomore teams.
Note: We also have player rankings for boys basketball that were done in late May and have done updated rankings for the Class of 2026. All player ranking charts (past and present since 2013) are for Gold Club members only.
