Blake Moore (left) of California City struck out the 500th batter of his career earlier this season and has moved inside the top eight on the all-time state list. It took some extra time this year but with many weeks still left to go in the 2025 season all of the various Cal-Hi Sports state record lists in baseball are updated. We also have already added teams and players on to our exclusive record lists for this season, including Corona High’s shutout streak, 12 RBI for one player in one game and a perfect game pitching with 20 strikeouts. Several players from last year who set records also are looking for more big totals this season.
We hope you enjoy this free post on CalHiSports.com. For any corrections, additions or comments, email markjtennis@gmail.com. When completing state record updates during a particular season, some categories can be done at any time. These would be for single-game totals or those surrounding any type of streak involving hitting, pitching, or winning games. Other accomplishments such as those for an entire season of play or a career of three or four seasons will just have to wait. The season or the career has to be completed first before it can be official.
We begin with the team on everyone’s minds at the start of the season, national No. 1 Corona. The Panthers started the season with three straight shutouts, gave up one run in a 10-1 win vs La Mirada and then posted six more straight shutouts until La Mirada scored three times in the Boras Classic South title game. Three more shutouts came in a Big VIII League series with M.L. King of Riverside, but Corona hasn’t had a shutout win since despite winning three of four games at the National High School Invitational in North Carolina and then winning two of three in a league series with Corona Santiago.
With reigning Mr. Baseball State Player of the Year Seth Hernandez leading the way along with two others projected to be chosen in the first round of the upcoming MLB Draft, Billy Carlson and Brady Ebel, the Panthers seem like a good bet to break the state record of 19 shutouts for one season first set in 2011 by small school Maxwell (CIF Northern Section) and then tied in 2015 by San Dimas. They currently have 12 for this season.
In that Boras Classic South final, Corona was attempting to tie the state record of seven straight shutouts first set in 1967 by Pleasant Valley of Chico and tied in 1977 by El Camino of South San Francisco. The team already is now on the all-time state list with six. The Panthers also had their streak of not allowing a run extend to 49 in that game vs La Mirada before it finally ended. They are No. 2 on that all-time list behind only the 56 by El Camino in 1977.
It was also impossible not to notice that many media outlets who referenced all of these state records surrounding Corona’s shutouts did not give credit to where those records come from. We are the only source of state high school records in California in five sports (football, boys hoops, girls hoops, baseball, softball). They don’t exist anywhere else. Not CIF, not MaxPreps, not anywhere else.

Here is a list of players for accomplishments in games already played this season that have now been added to our all-time state records:
Danny Aguilar (Livingston)
Tossed a two-hitter with 20 strikeouts in a 3-1 victory vs Johansen of Modesto.
Ethan Ash (Cal Lutheran, Wildomar)
Knocked in 12 runs for team during 27-0 romp past The Grove School of Redlands.
Jackson Balden
(Legacy Christian Academy, Bakersfield)
Pitched a perfect game with 20 strikeouts in a 9-0 triumph over Laton.
Sammy Kane (Jesuit, Carmichael)
Highly-regarded junior infielder rapped out four doubles for the Marauders when they got past Oak Ridge of El Dorado Hills, 10-7, in nine innings.
Aiden Madden (Kern Valley, Lake Isabella)
Struck out the first 12 batters of the game for the Broncos when they rolled past Mojave, 24-1.
Note: We know that pitcher Blake Moore of California City is going to finish among the all-time leaders for career strikeouts, but that isn’t going to happen until Blake’s final career total is known. CIF Central Section historian Bob Barnett has been tracking Moore’s totals.
Moore started last week by striking out 14 batters and gave up only two hits in 3-1 losing effort to Tehachapi. In the second game of the week, he had 10 strikeouts in a five-inning game on a 2 hitter and the Ravens beat Boron, 5-1. Moore started this week with 540 career strikeouts, which would be eighth best in state history if he stopped right now.

Here is a list of players for accomplishments in games from last season that have now been added to our all-time state records:

Levi Nyberg batted .671 with 51 hits last season as a sophomore at Cordova. Photo: Rick Sloan / Rancho Cordova Independent.
Clayton Harris (Etna)
He’s actually the only current senior player in the state who is already in the state record book in two categories for what he did last season. The big one is for most doubles in a season. Harris ended with 25, which not only makes the book but is a new state record. He surpassed the previous record of 23 that was held by three different players, beginning with Christian Carlos of Inglewood in 2005. Harris also had 55 RBI to lead the state and he was the only player who had the required total to get on to the all-time list.
Joseph Hoskins (Hillsdale, San Mateo)
He led the Knights to a win against Carlmont of Belmont by collecting four doubles.
Noah Hubbard (Etna)
The Lions not only had Clayton Harris for RBI and doubles last season, but they also had Hubbard, who scored 57 runs for the 25-4 squad. Like Harris, Hubbard was a junior last season. This season, though, teammate Emmett Stacher had been the one piling up the most impressive stats with six homers so far and a .500 batting average.
Enrique Mendez (James Lick, San Jose)
Graduated standout went 49-for-67 as a batter for the Comets last season for a .731 batting average. That makes the list for those with at least 40 at-bats.
Jett Messinger (University, San Francisco)
A player named Jett getting triples just fits perfectly. Messinger did that last season as a sophomore for the Red Devils with 11. We checked and his total for this year was holding at one but he has more homers with three, including a grand slam.
Levi Nyberg (Cordova, Rancho Cordova)
There are two batting average all-time lists, one for 40 at-bats minimum and one for 70. In the second one, Nyberg made it for getting 51 hits last season in 76 at-bats for a .671 average. He was a junior and is currently enjoying his senior season for the Lancers.
Jorge Parra (Arvin)
Graduated player had four doubles in a victory vs new school Del Oro of Bakersfield.
McGuire Smith (Liberty, Madera Ranchos)
He had a great career for the Hawks and put his name into the all-time lists for hits with 202, for triples with 23 and for doubles with 54.
