Leading players for the 2015 Cal-Hi Sports All-State Medium Schools Football Team include Player of the Year Mique Juarez from North of Torrance (already announced) plus quarterback Jake Constantine of Camarillo and running backs Justin Rice of Central Catholic (Modesto) and Romello Harris of Tulare.

Juarez, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound linebacker/quarterback who also was a Mr. Football State Player of the Year finalist and has won this year’s Glenn Davis Award from the L.A. Times, just returned from a weekend recruiting trip to Alabama and is scheduled to visit BYU next weekend.

Constantine, who just committed last week to Boise State, led Camarillo to the CIF Southern Section Northern Division title and to a finalist appearance in the CIF Division 2-AA state bowl game (note: winning team Del Oro of Loomis is considered large school due to league membership and section playoff division). He passed for 3,988 yards and 51 TDs and already has been named Co-Offensive Player of the Year for Ventura County along with All-American receiver Michael Pittman of Oaks Christian.

Rice, who has committed to Fresno State, led Central Catholic to a 16-0 record and to the first-ever CIF Small Schools Open Division state championship. He had 216 yards and two TDs in the team’s 56-21 win in the final game over San Marino and finished the season with 2,698 yards rushing and 32 TDs.

Harris, who has committed to Washington State, nearly broke the all-time career rushing record for the CIF Central Section despite missing games with a broken finger and then later suffering a season-ending knee injury. Harris had at least 240 yards rushing in the six games he played without an injury being involved and went for 300 yards three times, including 390 yards and four TDs in a win vs. Redwood of Visalia. Despite the injuries, he’s still getting many local honors.

Why aren’t there any tight ends?

Usually we have too many top-notch WRs and RBs for us to lose one of those players just to put a tight end in the lineup and we also aren’t going to choose more than 11 for obvious reasons since that’s how many can be on the field. Sometimes, if it’s a tight end/defensive end combination we can list that player on multi-purpose.
