This feature includes more top freshmen and sophomores who were not on the all-state underclass team. It’s for Gold Club members. A one-year subscription now will carry you through the 2014 season. Note: The first Cal-Hi Sports e-book, “California: The Baseball Capital of the World” is now available on Amazon, iTunes and other on-line e-book stores such as Kobo and Barnes & Noble. You can download a 27-page free sample of the book into your phone on iTunes now. This covers all the reasons why our state is so great in the sport, from MLB to the Cal League, from colleges, high school (of course) and Little League. We also have lists of all-time top high school players from San Diego, Orange County, the Inland Empire, L.A. City, CIF Central Section, Sacramento, SF/Peninsula and Oakland/East Bay. It’s just $3.99 to order. CLICK HERE for the link to the book on Amazon.

If you are chosen to any of the Cal-Hi Sports all-state teams, you should consider yourself an “all-state” player. Whether it’s first team overall, second team overall, third team, underclass, medium schools or small schools, to be on any of these teams should be considered an honor.

California remains, after all, the greatest baseball state in the nation in the sport and is still the worldwide leader. There also are more than 1,000 schools in the state.

With that said, congratulations to the following 2013 Cal-Hi Sports all-state baseball second team members as well as third team:

interesting picks. Some of these kids didn’t even make all league in their conference, but they make an All State list. Do you select off performance or potential?

It’s based mostly on performance. I can add that while we check as many all-area, all-county, all-section teams as possible (not all of them were out yet when selections were made) we do not look at every all-league team out there. That would be much too time-consuming.

Some guys must be really special in order to make both second team and third. Interesting.
Be careful looking at performance numbers in Maxpreps. Lots of fluffing going on there!
