In addition to Nicole Bates, statewide honors also are going out to Camryn Ybarra of Mission Viejo (juniors), Vanessa Strong from Freedom of Oakley (sophs), Kinzie Hansen of Norco (frosh), Madilyn Nickles of Merced (large schools) and Kailia Searcy from Paraclete of Lancaster (small schools).

Is there a chance that not every one of our final No. 1 teams will be from the CIF Southern Section? Yes, but it’s guaranteed for D1 and D2 and would take monumental upsets for either Ceres in D3 or Mariposa County in D5 to move up to the top spot for the final rankings....
