We’ve got a nice mix of standouts from offense, defense and special teams this week, headlined by players from 61-60 four-overtime game and that 80-64 regulation score. Eric Melesio of Riverside Norte Vista also shined with 487-yard rushing game while Tulare’s Nathan Lamb went 16-for-16 passing and Berean Christian’s Isaiah Hodgins had 11 catches for […]
Freshman Rourke Reiman of Ventura gets called up to the varsity and the next day he makes three 40-yard field goals and now he’s a SoCal Player of the Week. In the north, Clark Baker of San Ramon Valley showed De La Salle how good he can be and followed it up with a six-TD […]
Lucky number was seven this week for Jacobi Hardy of Long Beach Wilson (seven TDs scored) and for three different QBs (seven TD passes). We also have multiple listings from 83-48 win by Wilcox of Santa Clara over Saratoga and a freshman QB who had six TD passes.
Spread the news about Quincy Culpepper from Fremont of Oakland, who tied a NorCal record by scoring nine TDs in one game who tied a Cal-Hi Sports state record in the same game since three of those nine were on punt returns. This week’s best also includes a 500-yard night from Calabasas’ Tristan Gebbia, 17 […]
As you might expect, there were several huge totals from players in that 70-62 win in regulation by Murrieta Valley over Oaks Christian. The one player who tied two state records, however, was Oaks Christian’s Mycah Pittman. We also liked Tustin’s Kenneth Carr rushing for 377 yards and coming one yard short of the school […]
Sophomore QB Hank Bachmeier of Murrieta Valley soars past 470-yard mark in wild-and-wacky loss to Colorado team and can be added to state record book. Also going in are Jordan Mims of Menlo-Atherton (99-yard run) and Jalen Williams from Brookside Christian of Stockton (99-yard reception).
Fourteen is the magic number for top receivers Grant Calcaterra of Santa Margarita, Xavier Marshall of Corona Centennial and Tyson Fraser of Clovis. Rancho Cotate junior Jaelen Ward, however, caught 15 and his quarterback, junior Jake Simmons, passed for 562 yards. The only problem is that Rancho Cotate lost to Analy of Sebastopol.
Racing toward the top of various leaderboards is senior QB Vincenzo Granatelli of Oak Park, who had seven TD passes and 328 yards in his first game. We also have a couple of sophomores out to strong starts, including Arcadia’s Jahlique Stephens and Sacramento Capital Christian’s D’Marcus Ross.
The Ceres High infielder nudged Gatorade National Player of the Year Madilyn Nickles of Merced for top local honor in Stanislaus/Merced County and does the same for state’s highest, longest-running individual softball selection. It’s another tough choice in a sport that has seen several of them in recent years.
