It’s the week of the CIF Southern Section Division I quarterfinals so naturally there are several teams in the rankings that had to drop a few spots this week to account for those matchups, including Pittsburg, Narbonne and Oakdale. Long Beach Poly and Orange Lutheran are the two teams among that group that were jumped up with the Jackrabbits back up to No. 11 and the Lancers back up to No. 16. There were no changes in the top six, but Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Mission Hills and Central of Fresno have all moved up.

(After games of Saturday, Nov. 11)

1. (1) Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 11-0
No disrespect to Vista Murrieta because the 16 teams in the CIF Southern Section Division I bracket are all outstanding, but the Monarchs really did have the easiest first round game last Friday and topped the Broncos in a No. 1 vs. No. 16 matchup 49-7. They did fumble on their first postseason play, but then scored on four straight drives and the defense continued to give up very little. The defense also continued to score as Elias Ricks brought back an interception for a 36-yard touchdown. On offense, JT Daniels hit on 12 of 18 passes for 220 yards and three TDs while Amon-Ra St. Brown caught four passes for 106 yards and two TDs. In this week’s quarterfinals (the lowest state-ranked of the eight teams is No. 16), Mater Dei meets new No. 11 Long Beach Poly.
