NEW State Top 50 FB Ranks (1-25)

Is this a great shot or what? Santa Margarita players get ready to take the field last Friday to face Orange Lutheran with the sunset reflecting off the clouds and the Friday night lights shining brightly. Photo: Roger Clay/SoCalSidelines.com.

We finally get some major movement in these rankings with Mission Hills of San Marcos and Central of Fresno going from No. 16 to No. 11 and No. 18 to No. 12, respectively. Both Paraclete of Lancaster and Helix of La Mesa also are now in this higher group and Oakdale has been placed inside the top 20 after beating No. 25 Central Catholic with just 21 seconds left.

(After games of Saturday, Nov. 4)

1. (1) Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 10-0
The road to get to the CIF Open Division state title game at Sacramento State — and a consensus national rankings title — begins for the Monarchs at home on Friday against Vista Murrieta of Murrieta in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs. Mater Dei is the obvious top seed and completed its second straight unbeaten run through the Trinity League last Friday with a 51-7 romp past Servite of Anaheim. Junior QB JT Daniels hit on 25 of 32 passes for 346 yards and five TDs and now has 136 career TDs. Senior Amon-Ra St. Brown had five catches for 125 yards and two scores with junior Bru McCoy catching the other three TD passes. The Monarchs would appear to be on course for a matchup in the semifinals against either state No. 4 Mission Viejo or state No. 7 Chaminade of West Hills.
