CIF Central Sec: Pineda, Allen shine

Here’s some record updates and highlights of top players & teams from the recent week as reported to us from CIF Central Section historian Bob Barnett of Fresno. Bob has done phenomenal work on behalf of CIF Central Section schools, athletes and coaches for more than 40 years.

FOOTBALL

Quarterback Jaedyn Pineda from Mt. Whitney of Visalia passed for a career high of 370 yards, which is the fourth best in school history, and had four TD passes in 42-35 win over Lemoore. Pineda completed 22 of 26 passes and also had 81 yards rushing. The Pioneers and Tigers accumulated 1,031 total yards for the game.

Senior Kazmeier Allen of Tulare Union matched his career high by scoring seven touchdowns on runs of 4, 45, 2, 26 82, 20 plus a 98-yard pass reception from quarterback Nathan Lamb during 56-10 romp past Delano. Allen now has scored 86 career touchdowns, which is ninth best in section History. Receiver Emoryie Edwards also set a new section record for career yards at 4,030 after he had 117 yards on nine receptions in same game.

Alijah Alexander-Williams from Ridgeview of Bakersfield rushed for a career high of 227 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns in a 48-34 over West of Bakersfield.

Kai Caudell from Golden West of Visalia rushed for a game high of 207 yards on 19 carries as the Trailblazers edged Hanford 28-22.

Quarterback Braden Wingle of Bakersfield Christian had a fine night, by passing for four touchdowns on 18 of 35 for 235 yards in a 42-23 win over Shafter. Teammate Ben Yurosek, a sophomore, also had five sacks.

Senior kicker Eli Riofrio from Clovis West of Fresno moved into the fifth spot in section history by making two field goals and now has 23 for his career as the Golden Eagles beat Buchanan of Clovis 36-17. Riofrio leads the section with nine field goals for the season and has made 31 of 33 PATs.

Senior capitan Eric Saldana of Coalinga rushed for a career high of 263 yards on 16 carries and scored three touchdowns in a 41-7 win over Dos Palos.

Junior quarterback Esaiah Escober of Rosamond also had a big night by passing for 270 yards on 16 of 33 with three touchdowns and no interceptions in a 28-21 win over Bishop. Escober also rushed for 49 yards.

Wide receiver Issac Franco of Caruthers set a school record by catching four touchdown passes from quarterback Jared Gilmore as the Blue Raiders beat Parlier 58-21. Franco also ended with five receptions for 117 yards.

Hunter Hogue of Firebaugh rushed for a career high of 223 yards on 21 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Eagles ran past Mendota in a 40-14 win.

Finally, Nicholas Harper from Yosemite of Oakhurst had a nice game by rushing for a game high of 201 yards and scored one touchdown in a 35-33 win over Farmersville.
