Sac-Joaquin Section Top 5: DLs

We are happy to announce that for the fifth straight year the CalHiSports.com web site and Cal-Hi Sports will be part of the weekly Final Quarter high school football show on Friday nights on the FOX 40 station in Sacramento.

On last week’s show, we revealed our picks for the Top 5 defensive linemen in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. Here is what that countdown revealed:

1. Niti Liu (Grant, Sacramento)
He’s 6-2, 285 and is comparable to other great defensive tackles of the past from Grant. Committed to UCLA.

2. Taua Finau (Burbank, Sacramento)
The Titans had the top guy in the section on this list last year and have another standout with Finau. He’s 6-4, 245 and committed to Colorado.

3. Justin Kakala (Manteca)
A 6-4, 275-pounder, he could have committed to a Pac-12 school but is going to Harvard. His sister is now playing basketball at Louisville.

4. T.J. Pesefea (Foothill, Sacramento)
Mustangs have one of their top college recruits in recent years with T.J., a 6-5, 275-pounder with an offer from Arizona.

5. Austin Jarrard (Oak Ridge)
He’s 6-3, 220 and also plays receiver for the Trojans. After four games, he already had seven sacks and 22 tackles on season.

Polls also will once again be conducted on the FOX 40 website for the Papa Murphy’s Fan Favorite Game of the Week. The 30-minute show is twice a long as any other Friday night high school football show in the Sacramento market.

Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be the top five linebackers in the SJS. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite game of the week. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
