Teams That Have Losses: St. Mary’s (lost 20-7 to Central Catholic); Oakdale (49-28 to Folsom); Vacaville (lost 24-23 to Oak Ridge); Del Oro (lost 30-13 to Timpview of Utah); Grant (lost 24-0 to Rocklin); Jesuit (31-21 to Granite Bay & 55-9 to Folsom); Elk Grove (31-18 to Inderkum & 28-14 to San Mateo Serra); Tracy (27-7 to San Ramon Valley).

Big Games This Week (involving both teams from the section): Folsom vs. Sacramento at Hughes Stadium; Granite Bay at Vacaville; Monterey Trail at Del Oro; Grant at Franklin.

Note of the Week: Oakdale’s last loss at the Corral before falling to Folsom last Friday was in October of 2013 to Manteca 35-20 in a game that Cal-Hi Sports attended. It also was the 100th career win for Manteca head coach Eric Reis, who had not won there before. The two teams have byes this week and then the following week it will be Manteca going to the Corral. Will Oakdale lose two in a row at home? The odds aren’t good for the Buffs if you look at it that way, but you never know.

The Folsom Oakdale score was 45-29. NOT 28. Every point counts. Oakdale played pretty well against Folsom and were actually the more physical team. I was actually surprised how easily Oakdale was able to move the ball and score on Folsom. Only losing by 16 pts to Folsom shows Oakdale can play with the best of them. How likely is it that Oakdale will be moved up to D2 for playoffs?

How do you have Manteca over Del Oro, Saint Mary, and Grant?

Manteca beat Valley Christian of SJ, which was highly ranked in Bay Area. Grant lost 24-0 to Rocklin. That’s easy.
This should work itself out when Manteca plays Oakdale in two weeks and St. Mary’s gets creamed by Mater Dei.

Went to Oakdale to watch the Oakdale and Folsom game missing my Sonora Wildcats. Was not disappointed. Very impressed with Folsom and my thoughts on Oakdale from game one was enforced. Best Oakdale team I have seen in some years. Even after a loss I feel that way.

I think the Oakdale team that lost to Serra-Gardena was a lot better than last year. And I remember one that won a section title at UOP that was really good. If you think they’re better this year than any of those two, then must be pretty special.
