This final group of players are all from the CIF Southern Section. It is part of the process toward selection of the 35th annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. We are also open to get additional nominees from parents, coaches and fans.

Note: Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football content that will be for Gold Club members include the second, updated and final set of all-state nominee lists, writeups for all players and lists of honorees below second team. If you want to check out all of our rankings content, all of our all-state content and state record updates, join our team today. For subscription info, CLICK HERE.

The initial step toward selection of the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams is for us to present lists of nominees that have been put up on our virtual board.

The first nomination list was for players from CIF Northern California sections. The second one combined players from the CIF Central Section, CIF L.A. City Section and CIF San Diego Section. This third and final one is for the entire CIF Southern Section, which has more than 600 schools.

By no means are these meant to be all-inclusive lists of every possible all-state player in California. We encourage and welcome input from all users of our site and will be releasing a second, even more complete, updated list of nominees prior to when the teams are actually chosen and released.

Please send any nomination with each athlete’s height, weight, position, year in school, significant statistics. Comparing a player not on the board yet to one who already is can be very important toward eventual selection. Limit each nomination to one page please. Send to: markjtennis@gmail.com or FAX (209) 463-1219 or call (209) 463-9050.

The format we will continue to use is to honor a 30-player overall all-state first team with 30 more on second team. Each first team player is written up. There also are 30 for medium schools (Div. III traditional state rankings division) and 30 for small schools (Div. IV and Div. V traditional state rankings divisions). We often get enough information to include second teams for all divisions as well.

Don’t assume we know all there is to know about a player on the list, either. Send us info to make sure all pertinent information is turned in and placed into our files.

With special thanks to Stockton office assistant Paul Muyskens, here are the current nominations from the CIF Southern Section on our board for the various 2013 Cal-Hi Sports all-state football teams:

    Antonio Hull from West Covina???
    1) He doesn’t even attend West Covina
    2) He played in only one game this year
    3) 13 yards receiving and 2 tackles all year!!!

    Wow!

Yeah….it doesn’t seem like he did nearly enough to make the all state team. Maybe if he had a few more catches or something, LOL

We’ll take him off the list. Obviously, with hundreds of players, there are going to be a few who got hurt, switched schools and didn’t play who were on the list last year. We figure there might be a few we miss and it’s one of the reasons we have nominations lists in the first place. I deleted at least 20 that I found from last year. Just missed that one.

    Mark,

I sent you data on Josh Davis the other day, he is 1 of 2 D1 QB commits in Orange County, the only other is Ian Fieber of Mission Viejo. He is a 3 year starter, took team to CIF Championship game in East Valley Division against Jurupa Hills, passed for more than 2K yards and rushed for more than 1K yards, has full ride scholarship to Lafayette College the defending Patriot League Champions. Josh has more credits than most of the QBs on your list not to mention playing at the next level. Hope you consider him in your list. Happy Holidays and best wishes.

Josh should have been on the list. Sorry I missed him being on it. He will be added to the second list and will be strongly considered for all-state, especially small schools.

Mark- I sent information on Daniel McManus – West Hills HS PK – San Diego Section, the other day. He was 14 for 18 in field goals 29 for 30 in PAT’s, and 43 for 52 in touchbacks. These stats are posted on Max Preps. I believe that statistically, he ranks near the top of all your kickers currently listed under CIFSS. Thanks for the consideration and good luck to all nominees.

What about Davis Koppenhaver TE from Hart a High School in Newhall, CA? Maxpreps has him with 84 catches for 976 yards and 5 TD’s. He was one of the top 5 wide receivers in the Sounthern Section as a TE this year. He had a much better season than Dixon and Luatua. I believe he’s verbally committed to play TE at Duke. Let’s look at the current season not just names.

We had several Hart players already and should will be adding Davis as well. We will look at current season, but it’s also not just about stats, either.

He was a good versatile player and hard hitter making 1st team all-CIF LA city Section Linebacker?

He is 6’2 , 285 lbs. he broke the school record in bench press of 405 lbs, and power clean of 335 lbs. last year as a sophomore.
