So… If poly were to win out and hypothetically servite loses one more game, servite would still be ahead of poly?

That’s a tough one. Kind of depends on the score of next Servite loss (they still have Bosco to play). Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee as of now that Servite is even going to make the CIFSS Pac-Five playoffs. Poly will and so will unfortunately some second-place team from the Moore League. The second-place Moore League team (whoever it is) clearly wouldn’t/couldn’t beat any Trinity League teams. Poly and the Moore League in the Western Division with the Mission League (Serra, Chaminade, etc) going to the Pac-5? It would suck for Poly but I could see that happening.

Moore gets three berths in the Pac-Five playoffs. Used to be four!

It will be interesting what SS does for the Pac 5 next year, assuming there are no injunctions or court decisions allowing St. Bonaventure, Oaks Christian, Damien, and St Lucy’s to not be forced into the Parochial Area of SS.
The Trinity and South Coast should not be changing. The Serra and Mission, along with Bonnie, Oaks, and Damien are being made into 3 leagues for football with 2 of the leagues being pretty equal in magnitude and both would most likely be in the Pac 5. The 2 present Marmonte leagues, minus Bonnie and Oaks, but along with Oak Park and Camarillo are being made into a Marmonte League and a Camino League. The Marmonte looks to be the stronger. Will it stay in the Pac 5? If so, that’s 26 teams so far in the Pac 5. Will the Moore League with 7 teams stay in? Or will it get dumped in favor of another strong 6 team league like the Foothill or bring back the Sunset?
Unfortunately, the Moore League is an enigma for football. LB Poly should not be put in a lower division, but it’s fair to say the others(with the occasional exception of Lakewood), are no where near the level of most Pac 5 teams, and it’s not fair for 2 of them to take 2 Pac 5 playoff spots away from 2 much stronger teams.
The Moore League is an old, traditional league and quite strong in most other sports so I think it would be wrong to put Poly into another league (and also into another area association which means the Jack Rabbits would have to play all sports in a league in that new area association) that’s Pac 5 caliber.
Perhaps SS will do what NCS does with De La Salle and make Poly an independent for football with the stipulation they win a certain number of Pac 5 regular season games to be Pac 5 playoff elegible.

Definitely like the idea of Poly going independent in football like DLS (and like James Logan in the Mission Valley League).
They’d still play the Moore League teams, but just wouldn’t count toward league standings. Then the Moore definitely could be dropped down to the Western Division.

What about Middletown in D4 North

      Posted October 15, 2013 at 2:21 pm | Permalink

By my count through 6 games Middletown has given up the least amount of points in the entire state…20 points! They’re followed by Bishop Diego (25 pts) & Elk Grove (26 pts). Burlingame has given up 18 points in 5 games.
