Mamadou Ndiaye (Brethren Christian, Huntington Beach)

Roschon Prince (Long Beach Poly)

Murshid Randle (Central, Fresno)

Phillip Randles (Edison, Fresno)
In a 99-86 triumph against Tulare, the senior scored a career-high of 30 points and made six 3-point field goals.

Vasilije Saraba (Del Campo, Fair Oaks)
Every one of his 34 points was key as the Cougars needed overtime to defeat Vista del Lago 77-76 at the Folsom-Vista Classic.

Kevin Shackleford (Guajome Park Academy, San Diego)

Kendall Smith & Marcus Lee (Deer Valley, Antioch)
Surprise, surprise, they’re back, and probably will be a few more times before the season is over. In a 77-67 home win against Berkeley, Smith recorded his third game with 30 or more points, scoring 30 exactly. Kentucky-bound 6-foot-10 Lee got his first triple-double of the season with 21 points, 19 rebounds, and 11 blocks. In an even bigger game, Smith had 28 points as the Wolverines knocked off host De La Salle 55-38 in the title game of the Chris Vontoure Spartan Classic, exacting revenge from the team that beat them in last year’s NCS D1 title game.

Michael Smith (El Camino, South San Francisco)
He’s back again after the Colts’ senior had two more double-doubles, finishing with 22 points and 14 rebounds in a 54-39 win against San Jose Santa Teresa, and scoring 28 points with 13 rebounds in a 76-50 win over Millbrae Mills.

Malik Thames (Pleasant Grove, Elk Grove)
Leading the Eagles offense with 32 points they advanced to the championship game of the Mark Macres Memorial Tournament with an 83-59 semifinals win over Granite Bay.

Keonta Vernon (Tulare)
As a sophomore, the powerful Vernon grabbed headlines by smashing a backboard on one of his dunks. He’s now one of the top seniors in the CIF Central Section. He scored 32 points in a loss last week to Edison of Fresno and had 28 in a loss to Central of Fresno.

Tahjee Williams (McClymonds, Oakland)
He had a game high 30 points, and his team sprinted out to an 18-8 lead after one quarter, but couldn’t finish in a 61-58 loss to Danville Monte Vista.

Connor Woolpert (Mission Prep, San Luis Obispo)
Putting on an impressive 3-point shooting display, he knocked down eight shots from behind the arc and scored a game-high 33 points with 10 rebounds during a 82-63 win over Paso Robles at the Optimist tournament.

This just happened on Tuesday but we decided not to wait on mentioning this big time performance. GIRLS BASKETBALL

Nicholle Aston (Louisville, Woodland Hills)
She had quite the few days at the Crescenta Valley tournament as she scored 34 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in a 58-57 double-overtime loss to Granada Hills and then scored 38 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in a 67-36 win over Immaculate Heart.

Marie Bertholdt (Alameda)
Bertholdt more than held her own on the free throw line, and she had to the way she was getting fouled in a 68-53 win over San Lorenzo Arroyo. The hacking didn’t work because despite only hitting one field goal, the 6-foot-1 senior was 20 of 26 from the line and finished with a double-double 22 points and 18 rebounds, with six blocks and five steals.

Sierra Campisano (Torrey Pines, San Diego)
This 6-foot-2 freshman is off to a great start for her high school career. Campisano opened it up on November 29 with a 74-46 victory for the Falcons against Ramona. She had a triple-double, scoring 27 points, grabbing 20 rebounds and blocking 15 shots. Since then, she has continued to have double-double games averaging 21 points and 18 rebounds per game. Samantha Earl (Clovis)

Morgan Green (Pacific Collegiate, Santa Cruz)
The Pumas’ junior guard threw down 42 points but it wasn’t enough in a 64-54 loss to Soquel. Green bounced back with a double-double 24 points and 15 rebounds, with six steals and four assists, in a 50-42 win over Watsonville St. Francis.

Alex Iwatani (Mission San Jose, Fremont)
The girls’ golf and badminton teams always excel at Mission San Jose, and the hoops team is pretty good as well after Iwatani has helped lead the team to a 3-1 start this season. Last week in a 56-41 win over Milpitas, the senior co-captain was 7-of-8 from beyond the arc and finished with 29 points.

DeShayla Johnson (Tulare Western)
The junior guard showed her skills in the Hoover Holiday Classic in Fresno as she scored 37 points against Hoover in a 69-50 win, 37 points against Bullard in a 81-45 loss and 35 points against Clovis North. Johnson was chosen to the all-tournament team.

Leslie Lopez-Wood (Alemany, Mission Hills)
Scoring a career-high 30 points, she scored all of her points from behind the 3-point line as she knocked down 10 of her 13 shots from that distance in a 68-40 win over A.B. Miller of Fontana at the Covina tournament.

Jordan Mottershaw (San Marcos)
Standout senior guard and San Diego Union-Tribune athlete of the week netted 34 points and had 10 rebounds in a win last week against Carlsbad. She also had 22 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Poway.

Rachel Nagel & Reyna Ta’amu (Whitney, Cerritos)
These two combined for quite the game during the Wildcats’ 67-61 win over St. Joseph of Lakewood at the Glenn-Norwalk tournament. Two days later, Nagel scored 39 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 61-52 win over Cabrillo of Long Beach.

FOOTBALL

Jamie Gomez (Madison, San Diego)
The senior linebacker scored Madison’s lone offensive touchdown on a 4-yard run and came up with two interceptions on defense — one he returned for a score, the other he snagged in the end zone – to help the Warhawks defeat Monrovia 21-17 in the CIF Division III Southern California regional championship.

Austin Hooper (De La Salle, Concord)
The defense of Sparta stuffed the high-powered offense of Folsom in the CIF Open Division NorCal bowl game 49-15 victory, and it was this 6-foot-4, 247-pound defensive end with 17 Division I college offers that led the onslaught. Of the Spartans’ six sacks of Folsom quarterback Jake Browning, who came into the game only having been sacked nine times, Hooper had three. He also batted down a pass, had five total tackles, and from his tight end position on offense he caught two passes for 100 yards. Both receptions set up short De La Salle touchdown runs.

Erika Linch (Sutter)
Her extra point in the 23-7 loss to Marin Catholic in the CIF Division III Northern California regional final at Oroville made her the first girl to ever take the field let alone the first to score in CIF bowl game competition. She finished the season with 62 PATs and four field goals, including a 31-yarder, and a 28-yarder (and five PATs) three weeks ago in a 38-31 CIF Northern Section Division II victory over Cottonwood West Valley. The senior placekicker and soccer striker with an offer from Minot State (North Dakota) for soccer, has been doing double duty. She was the Northern Section girls soccer MVP last season and already has 14 goals in five games for the 5-1 Huskies’ soccer team.
